Hello there, my name is Raissa and I started to crochet at age 9 back home in Abidjan (Côte d'Ivoire/ West Africa). Introduced to me by my mom, I quickly fell in love with this magnificent art! I buried my nose in all of her crocheting books, and asked her questions when I didn't understand a stitch. Soon we had more doilies, tablecloths, and blankets than we needed (laugh). Far from my loved ones
, crochet became the one thing that helped me with stress and homesickness. I was alone in a new and strange country, but crochet was something I was familiar with. Friends that saw me hook and yarn in hands most of the time asked me "You Crochet?" followed by a "You are too young for this!". Tired of hearing these sentences I started to create items that had for mission to prove that crochet was a fun, ageless, and genderless art. I then offered my creations to my friends and family members. Their reactions, and feedbacks motivated me to share my creations with the world. I then started making and selling furniture, home decor and clothing accessories from the comfort of my home back in 2015 and KéréCrochet was born. Where did that name come from? From my name Nienkéré (I have many names lol) , which means "Hand of God" in my mother tongue. So Kérécrochet literally means "Hand crochet". I have a hyperactive brain and crochet is the main thing that helps me give life to everything I imagine. I hope to communicate my love and passion for the art to everybody visiting my shop and following me on social media. Much love,
