I would like to take a moment to say how grateful and appreciative I am to those giving their time and resources to help myself and others following the aftermath of Helene.

Water is still yet to be restored.

My son’s care requires nightly water feedings of 1000ml via feeding pump through gastrostomy. This has to be clean water. He also requires twice daily catheterizations for neurogenic bladder. Sterilization is very important.

This is my greatest issue. TMI warning: due to the nature of my son’s disability he is bowel and bladder incontinent. Many places with laundry capabilities have not been allowing blankets, bedding, etc.

I have used my pool water for laundry, toilet flushing, and anything else that doesn’t require sterilization. However, when it comes to “number 2’s”, I have not been able to clean adequately those articles and have had to throw away many bedding articles and his clothing as well.

The odors and stains were to imbedded to continue use.

On any given day I have at least 3 huge bags of his bedding and clothes to do. I am fortunate to have friends whose water has returned and I am able to get some wash done every couple of days. I have not gotten to mine yet.

Does anyone know of an operable laundry mat that can facilitate my needs? One that isn’t disgusting?

I will also be needing to find some good sales on blankets.

P.S. So just a little perspective for judgy people. Things aren’t always how they appear. Everyone is struggling with something whether it looks that way or not.

This might seem like a frivolous need… but my little pekinese needs grooming. Especially around her derrière.

I can’t seem to hold her tail out of the way and cut safely.

She has had all her shots, however this is the month she goes for her yearly vet visit to update them.

They have yet to open.

If anybody knows of anyplace or one. Let me know.

Also, I have not been able to find any pet fresh (refrigerated) dog food.

She will not eat anything I have tried giving her. If anybody knows of a place I can buy some please let me know.

I think the hardest thing with this disaster is dealing with no running water. TMI warning: my son’s bowel and bladder incontinence is a serious hygiene issue.

I have been lucky to use my swimming pool water for washing his bedding, dishes, flushing toilets.

I cannot seem to wring enough water from the heavy blankets.

Looking forward to updates on west Asheville laundry mat.

I keep hearing about these food distribution sites, household supplies, etc. where are they near me me?

My son cannot tolerate sitting in a car for hours and by the time the nurse gets here in the afternoon everything has been exhausted for the day.

Sometimes I cannot get anyplace because the traffic lines for the gas station down the road have congested my road so badly I can’t move.

I can’t just leave him in the morning in the hopes I can get back before wakes up.

His brother is only able to do so much. Lifting him is not one of them.

I know I am not the only person in this predicament.

Hales Laud we are safe. No water. Got a generator yesterday.

The hunt for gas is real. It is hard having to wait until 3 pm for the nurse to get here before I can go out looking for needed gas water food.

Lines are so long and Steven just can’t tolerate that.
