This is an especially heartbreaking story from a community not far from ours.
Two young lives lost, and three others critically injured.
So many families and lives forever changed. 💔
I know this isn’t my usual type of post, but sometimes there are things more important than what we normally share here.
After hearing about this tragedy, I had another conversation with my own grandson, who is a new driver.
And I hope other parents, grandparents, and family members will do the same.
Please remind your young drivers that getting behind the wheel comes with enormous responsibility.
Slow down.
Put the phones away.
Wear your seat belts.
Never drive under the influence of alcohol or drugs, or ride with someone who has been using them.
Don’t overload a vehicle with passengers, and remember that driving late at night brings additional risks.
And please, know where your teenagers are, who they’re with, and how they’re getting home.
Make sure they know they can ALWAYS call you for a safe ride, no matter the hour or circumstances.
We can’t protect our kids and grandkids from everything, but we can keep having these conversations.
Sometimes the reminders that seem repetitive are the ones they need to hear most.
My deepest condolences to these families and everyone affected by this unimaginable tragedy. ❤️
Two Mattawan High School students were killed and three others were critically hurt in a crash early Sunday morning in Texas Township.
