Story time!!
This client was sent to me by a fellow seamstress, asking if I could do this job since she was unable to at the time. I had been playing with the idea of doing custom work again since it had been 2 years. I decided to do the job. The client and I communicated and when we met in person, we just clicked. We have a very similar body type and our measurements were very close to each other. I already know how to fit my body, so this situation makes it easy as my first custom project in a bit.
She had a toile fitting 2 weeks ago and today was the day for pick up.
When she walked in and saw her top on the mannequin, she was in awe, then she got teary eyed, then it was full blown tears of joy.
After I got her settled, I asked her try it on, since the proof is in the fit.
Once she put that top on, the tears came again. Now for the pants. She said: “I have never had pants that fit me right like this.”
More tears of joy followed.
I am aware of my God given skills but sometimes I question myself. However, this moment reminded me of it and told me that my timing to come out of retirement to take this client was the right decision.
I have had many beautiful reactions from clients in the past, but, I was so blown away by her reaction. I needed this today!🙌🏽
It is always my goal to get the best fit I possibly can and make the experience of having bespoke clothing made by me, to be a good one.
