Novato Art and Wine Festival is coming up! June 13 and 14 in downtown Novato. I'm excited to be there with my bags and aprons. While growing up I mostly knew Novato as a long stop on the 80 bus going from Sonoma County to San Rafael or Sausalito, it has turned into so much more now with tons of family making their homes there. Not only do I get to try a larger festival market, I also get to do 3 graduations for my nephews while we're there and spend the week ahead of the market with family! Ahead of it, I'm finding pockets of windows to sew in and have some beautiful totes and aprons to bring that I'm looking forward to sharing. Plus I've replenished the zippered pouch inventory. Fun. Beautiful. Functional! Come drop by the booth, say hello, and see if one of the pieces speaks to you! A good sampling in the photos plus so much more!

This apron feels like it is the one that you reach for all the time. Harvesting from the garden, yep, wearing this one and filling up the pocket with tomatoes. Working in the kitchen on a summer day making an herb filled salad for the spur of the moment guests, yep, this apron. On one side it features the bounty of fruits, vegetables and flowers in a print by (make sure you catch the woman's face in the print!) in a lightweight cotton/linen fabric, and on the other, a quintessential dark red French striped fabric against a natural background in super lightweight cotton/linen. One large pocket on the print side. Adjustable neck and waist ties. Beautiful and functional!

Having fun making aprons as I get ready for the Spring markets. When I learned (relearned) to sew after we moved to Auburn in the early 2000s, it's an apron pattern that I followed as I learned how to use my machine. And then I made many many aprons ... for me... for all my family members. All are still in use today, though there are a couple that are finally ready to retire...they were workhorses and have lasted 18+ years! Yesterday I made a very sweet (and functional) apron out of a lighter weight cotton/linen fabric. Today, I made a statement apron using the heavier weight linen/cotton canvas with a lightweight cotton backing. I love them both. It would hard to decide which one I want hanging on the hook in my kitchen ready to get to work, so I'm a little happy that you're the one who has to decide! (of course, if it was me, I'd probably end up with both)!

Very excited that the Market season is here. When I started making totes, I couldn't have guessed at how much I enjoy the markets - meeting customers and the other makers. I feel so much more connected to the community. I've always been a little shy, so it truly surprised me to learn that I love that interaction. Bubble bag #2: City Scape. I love the combination of scales in this tote. It's a fabric I've had in my stash for years. One of those that I pull out and never use, but pairing it with this bubble tote style is a wonderful match. This bubble tote is available now for $100. I will take more pictures once the rain stops, but it is available now ($100). DM if you are interested. It is a great tote, but I think it is a particularly good project bag for yarn. Interfaced cotton exterior with a lovely cotton/linen blend by Kokka in the interior.

Happy New Year, everyone!

Would love feedback on this latest tote.

After taking some time to relax after the holiday rush, I'm having fun playing with a couple of new totes to add to the line up this year.

This Balloon bag (Pattern by Kokka) has been on my list for awhile - the adorable shape and the endless possibilities of fabric combinations drew me to it. I always throught it would be an amazing project bag - and I now that I've made one, I can confirm that is indeed the case. It's spacious and sit's flat with the nice opening at the top. Yesterday I filled it up with all the yarn and zip pouches and needle case I regularly carry in the Frame Satchel I made last year. (You'll see that picture in the "pre-handle photo" in the mix of what I shared).

It would also make a nice carryall for soft toys to be put away. It looks adorable sitting on a shelf or on the floor.

It will have a pocket on the front if/when I start making them to sell.

Your feedback will help me decide if this is one of the ones to move forward with.
