There are two kinds of people in life: friends and acquaintances. Acquaintances are a dime a dozen. You will always have plenty of acquaintances- you will see them at church, the supermarket, the gym, walking down your street. They will be so friendly and will always act like they are happy to see you!

Then you have friends. Friends, true friends, are few and VERY rare. These are the people who show up when you are at your lowest and worse. These are people who will stand next to you when you’re puking your guts out, or who will show up to bail you out of jail. Friends stand with you in the middle of life’s storms, when you are getting beaten down and pounded by life.

Acquaintances are like “Fools Gold”. Fools gold is easily found, is plentiful, shiny and sparkles like real gold- but is soft and worthless.

Friends are like real gold. You have to dig through a lot of dirt and rock to find them, they are rare, and once you have them they are precious beyond belief! Hold on to that ONE FRIEND who showed up- and don’t waste your tears on all that FOOLS GOLD that revealed themselves!
