In the depths of history, they stood,
Strong and resilient, misunderstood.
Bound by chains, but not their spirit,
Their legacy, we must never forget.
Through the fields of cotton, they toiled,
Their blood and sweat, forever coiled.
Yet, hope bloomed amidst despair,
As they dreamt of freedom in the air.
From the whispers of their stolen tongues,
A language of resilience, unsung.
They passed down stories, generation to generation,
Ancestral wisdom, a sacred foundation.
On Juneteenth, we celebrate their emancipation,
A proclamation of liberation, a new creation.
Their strength and sacrifice, etched in time,
Their spirits live on, their legacy sublime.
So let us honor our ancestors, brave and strong,
Their resilience and courage, a timeless song.
As we march towards justice, come what may.
Here's to our ancestors, forever in our hearts,
