// Brand Origin + All About You //
I had debated doing this year. I’ve participated the last few years and have loved it, but I haven’t been very consistent with social media lately. And maybe this is what I need to get back in to the swing of things.
Brand origin: I have been making dolls for roughly 14 years now. I started as a desperate attempt to make an inexpensive present for my niece and I somehow stayed with it. The name has shifted a few times. But with the rebrand I did a couple years ago, I’m happy with where it’s at. Sweet Anne Made is name after my Grandma Sweet Anne. She was hugely influential in my life in so many ways. She loved nature and animals, was unapologetically herself, and at times she was vulgar. Not the typical grandma-type. But she made me my first doll, sang ‘Paper Doll’ to me, and called me ‘doll’ throughout my childhood. So naming my shop ‘Sweet Anne Made’ only makes sense in so many ways. All about you: I’m Chelsie. I make heirloom quality dolls. I have friends who help me with some of the admin things I don’t particularly love, and have found a couple lovely small shops that help me by making doll accessories. Otherwise it’s just me. And of course my incredibly patient and supportive husband, and my feral five year old triplets. Random things about me that you may or may not know: I have breed and raised parrots, I’m a black belt and have taught several self defense classes, I’m an art school drop out, and I was an optician for 17 years before my kids were born. I love what I do. And I love all of you for your support, patience, and encouragement. Thank you!
