With the announcement of ACOTAR 6 (and 7?? still wrapping my head around that), I think it’s time to share that my shop will be closing this Spring 🤍

The announcement in 2025 that small businesses would lose their licenses with Writers House and SJM was devastating. Not just because SJM merch sells, or because they’re fun to design, but because it meant that only HUGE companies would be able to sell with the new IMG contract. It felt like SJM, who stood behind small businesses and artists, had betrayed us. I don’t pretend to know the reasons why, but it feels greedy. What had been a safe space was suddenly exploited for cash-grabs and corporate merch designed by executives and not people who loved these stories. It truly damaged my love of reading and left me feeling jaded.

When my license with Sarah J. Maas expires this May, my shop will close. I don’t know if it’ll be permanent, all I know is that I want art to be fun again, and I want reading to feel like a joy instead of a job. SJM said in her interview with CHD that writing began to cause panic attacks, that she started to define herself by how she could “perform”, and I truly have never felt so seen. My small shop has gone through many eras in the short three years it has been open. Art theft is real and small businesses and artists need your support more than ever. This business and community has given me so so much, and I’ll always be grateful. I’ll still be here and lurking, and hopefully one day I’ll be able to share my art again.

In the meantime, please support these lovely artists I personally adore for all your bookish art and pieces (I’m sure I’m missing some so please tag your favorites too!). Thank you for being here 🤍

I think it’s long overdue for me to reintroduce myself say a huge THANK YOU for 10K! 🥲🤍🥹

Hitting 10k was always such a huge goal for me when I started out, and it feels SO surreal to say that it happened - and all because of your support and belief in me 🥹🤍

Thank you for sticking with me through one of the hardest years I’ve experienced yet. I forget to share the behind the scenes, or of my own life, but that’s something I want to work on in the coming months and year 🤍

So hi, I’m Cait! I’m the owner of my little licensed shop - Cait’s Curio Corner. I started drawing back in 2019, and I’m fully self-taught in all things art (I actually went to school for engineering!). I never imagined that my hobbies would turn into a business, but in 2023 I figured I’d put some of my fanart onto shirts since I had the WORST book hangover after finishing Throne of Glass…and now we’re here. There are 10,000 of you who support me, my shop, my art, and my goal to make the world a little bit better through books!

In honor of leaving this world a better place than we found it, the Heart of a Dreamer collection will be the first collection at my shop where a portion of profits made will be donated to Take Back the Night - a not-for-profit organization that aims to end all forms of gender-based violence, including sexual, relationship, and domestic violence.

One of the core values of my shop has always been spreading a kindness through the bookish community. I’ll be posting on my stories to share how this collection has helped others, and with your help, we can leave this world a better place than we found it. ✨🫶🏻☕️

This design is so special to me as I’ve always felt a deeper connection with Mor. It truly is an ode to her, and her safe haven at Rita’s in Velaris.

In truth, as there are two new ACOTAR designs in this collection, I hadn’t intended on revealing this one first (mostly because it’s my personal favorite). But today, it seems like we may all need a reminder that there are safe havens in the world, that you have a voice and a say in your future, and that it’s okay to dream of a better world. 🤍🫶🏻✨
