Hey friends!

We’ve had a lot of new faces around here lately, so we wanted to reintroduce ourselves 💜

We’re Jacki & Clay, the husband-and-wife team behind Thrift Avenue. We’re full-time resellers, parents, coffee lovers, and probably a little too excited about vintage tags and thrift finds. What started as treasure hunting together turned into a business we truly love building side by side.

When we’re not sourcing inventory or packing orders, we’re usually spending time with our kids, enjoying family adventures, working on projects around the house, exploring Northern Michigan, or just trying to survive the beautiful chaos of everyday life together.

Whether you’re here to shop, learn, or just follow along behind the scenes, we’re so glad you’re here.

Clay is the kind of guy who can fix almost anything with a pocketknife, a random bolt he found three years ago, and complete confidence that “it’ll hold.” Known for his calm personality, strong work ethic, and permanent flannel collection, he thrives somewhere between hardworking outdoorsman and accidental comedian.

A lover of the outdoors and simple living, Clay is most at home in a chestnut orchard, in the woods during hunting season, or standing in the garage staring at a woodworking project he swore would “only take an hour.” When he’s not outdoors or building something, there’s a good chance he’s digging through estate sales, garage sales, thrift stores, or flea markets searching for hidden gems for the resale business. He genuinely enjoys the hunt just as much as the profit, especially when it comes to vintage clothing, unique finds, and spotting value where other people walk right past it.

As one half of the team behind the family resale business, Clay plays a huge role in sourcing inventory, researching brands, packing orders, and turning weekend treasure hunting into a full-time business. While some couples bond over fancy dinners or vacations, Clay and Jacki bond over finding vintage denim, rare tags, and debating whether something is worth picking up “just to comp later.”

Friends and family know him as dependable, hardworking, and quietly hilarious, with a talent for woodworking, fixing things, and somehow always finding exactly what people are looking for at a garage sale. His daily essentials usually include a worn baseball cap, work boots, coffee, and at least one sentence that starts with, “Well… technically I could build that.”

Whether he’s working with his hands, sourcing inventory, or helping grow the business alongside his family, Clay is the steady, creative force that keeps everything moving forward.

Jacki Szilagyi is a Michigan-based reseller, content creator, homeschool mom, and professional multitasker who somehow manages to answer customer messages, make lunch, crosslist inventory, and lose her coffee all at the same time. As the founder of Thrift Avenue LLC and creator behind “Life on Thrift Avenue,” she has built an online brand centered around fashion resale, entrepreneurship, motherhood, and surviving on caffeine and determination.

Specializing in vintage fashion, designer finds, and the occasional “why did I buy this?” thrift store gamble, Jacki sells across platforms including eBay, Poshmark, Etsy, Depop, Mercari, Vestiaire Collective, and pretty much anywhere else people are willing to buy secondhand clothing at 2 a.m. She is known for her detailed listings, strong opinions on lowball offers, and ability to identify a 1990s denim tag from across the room.

Outside of reselling, Jacki creates online content covering reseller strategy, platform drama, homeschooling life, motherhood, and the reality of trying to run a business while tiny humans ask for snacks every six minutes. Her audience appreciates her honesty, humor, and refusal to pretend she has everything perfectly together.

Her daily routine typically includes carrying a Stanley cup everywhere she goes, saying “I’ll list those later” about 47 times, reorganizing inventory bins she just organized yesterday, and explaining to people that yes, reselling is in fact a real business.

When she’s not working, Jacki enjoys Northern Michigan lake days, cozy oversized hoodies, family adventures, and briefly sitting down before someone needs something from her again.

Take the extra minute to really check your items... seams, underarms, hems, zippers, soles... all of it. What you miss in the store can cost you time, money, and a return later.

If you want your first thrift flips to actually sell… here is what matters.

Most sellers don't just "get lucky," they thrift with intention. They know what to look for, how to price, and how to stay organized. That makes a huge difference.

The sooner you treat it like a business, the faster you’ll see results.

I will not compare my beginning to someone else’s highlight reel 💜

You don’t always get to see their slow days, their learning curve, or the mistakes it took to get there.

Stay focused on your lane, and build your business your way.

Shipping will eat your profit faster than anything if you’re not paying attention.

That “great deal” isn’t so great when the item ends up costing more to ship than you expected.

- Weigh your items.
- Factor it into your pricing.
- Know your shipping options before you list.

Thinking about starting a side hustle? This is your sign 💜

Thrifting is one of the easiest ways to get started. It is typically low cost, low risk, and it teaches you real skills that actually transfer as you grow.

It’s also okay if it’s not your forever model. It is a great way to learn the basics, build the foundation, and pivot when you’re ready.
