Not my usual post but I wanted to share anyway.

This past week we buried my grandmother, Betty Lou Tvedt. Who passed at the age of 87 years old.
This is the woman that gave me the knowledge, inspiration and machines to create Just A Mom's Repair.

She first taught me to sew at the age of 8. We made a pajamas set. Through the next 12 years I would do mutiple projects with her as she taught me everthing from reading a pattern to how to install a zipper. She was an amazing seamstress and spent a large part of her life making things for her family as well as offering her skills to her community both in Monticello and Alexandria. She ran her business of "Betty's sewing and alterations" as well as assisting her husband as they ran
K&B's bakery of Monticello.
She was a very hardworking, industrious woman.

Anyways I wanted to share this with everyone as she is the inspiration behind Just A Mom's Repair and I strive to continue her legacy of hardwork and quality repairs.

Since this question has come up frequently. I should address this.

I don't alter wedding dresses.

I will help with a bridesmaid dress or a groom man suit, If I can but as far as the outfits for the special coulpe. I don't have the skill set required to assist you. I am was taught the basics as a teen then have built my skillset through self teaching. I would hate to mess up your special day and your outfit deserves to be perfect.
I appreciate the inquiries but I'm not your person best of luck finding someone that can help with your special day.

All were dropped off this morning and were ready for pick up same day.

Another bridesmaid dress has been altered with a new hem. Featuring a scalloped hem, this dress required the use of pattern design to copy the scallops, and iron-on stabilizer was applied to get the curves to lay flat before the hem was sewn.

Took this patch off an old denim jacket, reinforced it with a fabric stabilizer and installed it on a new jacket.
