I’m not sure if this is meant for an adult or a child or if it even matters but I just got this thrifted pink velvet, hooded cape. Inside tags say the original price was $55 & that this is “Fairy Finery.” So this will be a gift for Miss Peppery, the Divine Miss Em—our precious Emma Grace except if the need would ever happen to arise, maybe Granny could borrow it for an outrageous outfit? Or two? 😎🤣🦩 We’ll see how it washes up first. I see some creative, imagination activities ahead especially when Em sets up her ottoman stage to present her next concert. I’ll keep you posted on event dates. 😎❤️🦩

My girls said my new fuzzy cotton candy wrap looks like Zsa Zsa Gabor. My other daughter said I look like a human version of a pink flamingo. I think this is actually part of a costume but no matter—it’s mine now & I’m having fun with it! Kinda matched my pink popsicle & ice cream cone shirt I wore yesterday. I went thrifting after work last night—barely made it before they closed. I just felt so strongly that I needed to go. I did not know I “needed” this pink thing but we discovered each other. 😎 I did, however, get two pairs of pants, a sweater, & a shirt that will be just right for fall. I have to have working girl clothes for the daily newspaper life, but business clothes for some stories & then fancier clothes when I cover special events. Then I have to have perky, pretty clothes to wear at the shop. Quite a range—& outfits for each season. This is what I tell myself anyway when my closet overflows & I thrift for brown suede pants & a houndstooth sweater. There is no plausible justification for the pink flamingo shawl other than the squeal I let out when I scooped it up & how I pranced around the house in it. 🌸🦩😎

The windy days of March & the April showers—isn’t this such a timeless design? I got 4 mugs & the cream & sugar dish to match at an auction last weekend. I’m already itching to go again. I can’t ever imagine not being transported by these memories—will young people ever share this emotion for old stuff? I know Miss Em does! ❤️🦩😻

It’s me in my pink flamingo dress my daughter & granddaughter convinced me to get! I also wore my thrifted white shrug sweater today on a day off from the newspaper—I’m covering the shop for Hubs. Have a happy day, sisters, in whatever ways gives you comfort & joy! 🤩 🦩🎸❤️

I’m a little closer to showing you my current project & thrifted furniture. Hubs ordered a special refinishing oil that’s supposed to be delivered today. And I’m on the countdown to my big thrifting weekend. I haven’t taken a true Saturday off that didn’t include work, travel, deadlines, etc in sooo long & I hope my plan works out. I’m being intentionally a little vague because there’s many levels to my project that will all be revealed & shared soon. It feels good to have anticipation over something fun—the energy is good, the distraction from everything else is powerful, the hope is important. I’m working on a detailed feature story for the newspaper that’s somewhat related to my endeavor & I mean to make it sing opera! I’ll share it with you after it’s published. You can always follow me on my “Tyna Writes For The Bedford Gazette” if you’re interested. Okay, gotta run. Three jobs won’t work without me—I have hopes & dreams! I know you do, too. Let’s make them happen! 🦩

Don’t you just love a good before & after photo? I didn’t dare take a photo of the true “before” room I’m re-doing but I can take one of the next level “before” soon. One more batch of stuff to get outta there & then…I’m making a new guest room from a space we’ve used for storage since 2018. Every curtain, every piece of furniture, every bit of decor will be thrifted—thrift shop, yard sale, estate auction. Speaking of auctions, I’m going to a big one this weekend. I have to be very organized in advance because putting a “stuff” person like me in front of a room full of treasures is like eating at a buffet or feeling lucky at a casino. I try to avoid all of the above or go in with a hard-core plan. Several people suggested I use AI to design the room. Nah, I’m good. I want my family & friends who sleep in that room to get what I’m trying to express & I want it to say “me.” No plans for a magazine decor spread but I’d sure like to share the progress with my Thrifted Sisters.
Here’s the first load that arrived on Friday. I made an auction purchase that righted a wrong done to me in my childhood. I can’t wait to clean & polish these pieces & then see what you think! It’s Monday, Sisters! Let’s rock this week in whatever ways are most meaningful to all of us! ❤️🦩🙋‍♀️
