Dreaming of getting back to this pieced star magic. It’s frustrating not being able to create these quilted garments. But, the good new is, we close on the new house next week, so new things are coming sooner rather than later. What do you want to see for fall?

And that’s it, the last order to go out from our farmhouse. We’re *kind of* all packed up and now I need to clean and get the trailer packed. All the farm animals have new, happy homes, and we’re off to spend some time with nana and papa while we wait to close on the new house.
Not gonna lie, this is a bittersweet move. I really, really love this house but I’m excited to be moving back to an area with more convenience and opportunities for the kids and I’m grateful that we will continue to have a roof over our heads. I am super sad that I have to take another break from this business while we move again because I LOVE LOVE LOVE creating and am always so grateful when you like it too. Thank you.

Oh, we didn’t see you there. I’m wrapping up all my projects to get ready for our move, one of which is this custom scrappy bonnet. Nothing is more exciting than creating my own textiles from the tiniest pieces of scraps. Sure, it takes extra time, but I think it’s well worth it! Can you believe it’s been over two years since I made my first scrappy bonnet? My piecing skills have really grown and these hats are a fun way to practice new techniques.

The move is on. Our house is sold and now we’re on the search for a new home base. Things will be slow in this space while we pack and search and juggle. If you need me, please message me, but know it may be a bit before I get back to you. If you have an existing order, i am working on them every night and will get them out ASAP (also, I’ll be purging some fabrics soon. I’ll list the Facebook group in my profile if you’re interested!)

My favorite thing about quilts is the weight and soft bulk - there’s nothing quite like the comforting feeling of something so soft and so heavy. This quilt is really a song of texture A linen, waffle knit, soft cottons all play together to make this lofty snuggle quilt. I just finished quilting it (a real challenge on my home machine; I’ve never quilted something quite this large) and tonight I’m cutting and pressing trim. I’m definitely snuggling in it while I finish it up 😅.

Celebrate the act of mothering, in all of its forms. Recognize the diverse and/or complicated relationships between caretaker and child. Uplift those waiting for their opportunity to mother.

Today is a day to celebrate the act of mothering in all of its forms- beautiful, broken, new, tired, hopeful, healing, transformative, staggering.
I love you and I see you.

Frolic tops drop tonight in the Mother’s Day Market! To claim one, you have to join the Facebook group (link in my profile), find my photo in the album and claim in the comments. It’s a little bit complicated but it’s such an amazing group of creators that I’m thrilled to be involved with them. I’m uploading the listing now (you can’t claim until 6pm pst) with all the sizing information for the adult and kids sizes. Kids sizes are available in toddler to big kids (up to a 10/12) and adult sizes are available size 0/2 to 28/30. My midsize bod is rocking the size 16/18 quite comfortably thank you very much.

Frolic tops! I really love the simplicity of this style. This colorway will be available for the first time in the Mother’s Day showcase this Wednesday (4/28). Check out my stories for a real life look and a different styling. I’m wearing the 16/18 and honestly could probably size down for a more fitted look.

I love the simplicity of this adult Frolic top. It has a comfy, boxy fit that hits at the natural waist and looks adorable with jeans or skirts. I promise I’ll try to get some modeled shots of it tomorrow, but I am not the best in front of the camera 😅. This version (and a coordinating version for kiddos) will be available this Wednesday (4/28) in the .

Brass Bee Bonnets: Find Adventure

www.brassbeebonnets.com

My name is Shannon, a mama, maker, writer and wife. When my daughter was a baby, I struggled to find a cute, cotton hat that worked for baby wearing and kept the sun off of the baby, so I made the first Suni bonnet. Three years later, she is still wearing bonnets and asking for uppies. Ever since then, we've been making bonnets and pixie hats and princess crowns for the special little people in my life. Now, I'm ready to share our celebration of fabric with other littles all over the country. Each hat is made with love, humility, joy and laughter at my kitchen table. Please enjoy our offerings and, if there's something special you'd like, contact me and we can make it happen!
