Stray Bear is thrilled to introduce the Ellie Cardigan, the first in our collaboration series, working with Nashville folk musician Ellie Turner!
A Texas native, Ellie’s circuitous journey to the Music City has gone through Arkansas, fiddle jams, and interior design before making the leap to Nashville. Ellie released her first full-length album, When the Trouble’s All Done, in March of this year.
Ellie is exactly the kind of person Stray Bear imagined partnering with: someone pursuing what they love.
"Ever since I was a little kid, I have loved experimenting with the clothes that I wear,” Ellie said. “The idea of designing a cardigan specifically was really exciting for me for a couple of reasons. First, the cardigan in general has always been the most beloved article of clothing for me. I see them as quiet (but very fun), dependable, cozy little companions to carry with you through the seasons. Second, I think I loved the idea of a cardigan because they can so easily play and combine with the other pieces you are wearing. In expressing myself through clothing, my goal has always been to come up with looks that are a little unexpected by pairing colors or patterns that might not typically be put together.
"In coming up with two different color ways for this cardigan, I loved the idea of leaning into the really simple but beautiful dichotomies of our world: warm and cold, night and day, sun and moon, winter and harvest. We can’t understand the feeling of one without the experience of the other. We need it all."
