Adventure Data) is a company of four outdoor enthusiasts that are passionate about our adventures. In true lean startup fashion, we are currently working out of a garage in Boise, ID. Despite our less than luxurious headquarters, we are excited about the progress that we make daily. The whole team is giving everything we have to make the best outdoor equipment possible, and to fulfill the RAD drea

m. We plan on building RAD into a company that is on the leading edge of adventure sport advancement, while maintaining respect and awe for nature and the history of our sports. In our work on the Lyte probe, we are finding that the best way to do this is to incorporate the community in all that we do. It does no good to build a new technology if it is not widely accepted as useful and needed from the leaders in the community. We will be using this approach in the development of every product that RAD brings to the market. Using the community to help groom what we create will help us make sure that everything we do brings us back to our mission of enhancing and enabling greater outdoor adventures.

We went to Rogers pass in Canada a couple weeks ago. Avalanche conditions were quite variable which made testing very interesting. Unfortunately in a quest to obtain high resolution data we broke our field laptop... which officially retires a computer that was NEVER water proof and regularly exposed to snow,rain, and wet backpacks.

It was ultimately done in by tomahawking over a wind lip! When we saw the orange in the backpack looking more like a pancake we knew there was an issue.

The avalanche danger is LOW. Large avalanches are unlikely, and most slopes are safe. In the White Cloud Mtns, triggering a large avalanche on weak snow near the ground remains a possibility on very steep, rocky, wind-affected slopes.

Small sun-induced loose snow avalanches are possible on very steep slopes that face the sun. Small slab avalanches are also possible near wind-loaded ridges in the Sawtooths.

As the parts for the new probes begin to arrive at RAD HQ the team is bursting with excitement for the coming season. There is a lot of work to be done in order to have the probes ready before the first snowfall. Even though it's just the beginning of August, we're already planning the first build...

In preparation for the coming winter, we have been working on getting all of the materials ordered and delivered so we can begin building the first batch of the newest probes well before winter. This year's hardness probes are going to be better than ever, and there will only be a limited quantity.....
