At first glance, Dream Bohemian may look like a colorful little vintage shop in downtown Brenham. To me, it is something much deeper.

I like to think of Dream Bohemian as an Elysian Field — a piece/peace of my internal world made manifest and witnessable by those willing to step outside the confines of societal norms and explore the deeper parts of themselves. Fabric, color, and texture just happen to be the physical invitation point.

It makes perfect sense when you understand that imagination is where reality first begins to take shape. To me, style and fashion is really an exploration of costume and mask — feeling into alter egos, deciding how you want to feel, and discovering which parts of yourself you feel safe enough to reveal. That can be confronting. Why do we so often say, “I love this dress, but I could never wear it”? Usually, it simply means you’ve reached the edge of your current comfort level of expression.

The voices arrive quickly:

“You can’t be seen wearing hot pink!”

“This doesn’t camouflage your pooch well enough for Thanksgiving dinner.”

“This is far too risqué — what will your mother-in-law think?”

We care about these things not because we are weak, but because we long to belong. Acceptance creates safety. As humans, we naturally seek tribe and connection.

I, however, enjoy finding those edges and gently — playfully — nudging beyond them, even if only a little. That’s why Dream Bohemian is far more to me than a vintage/resale shop. My shop window byline points directly at what I’m really doing: Vintage + HeArt + Imagination + Spark. Yes, one of my passions is appreciating how beautifully things were made not so long ago. But the larger picture is discovering what brings the heart alive — and finding the courage to express it.

If you feel drawn to explore those depths, and perhaps join an evening dedicated to expanding your edges in playful and meaningful ways, let me know. I have many beautiful gathering ideas swirling around for Fall and would love to hear if any of you are interested.

Much love,
Charlotta

What a gorgeous weekend it was!

I receive some common questions that I’ll answer here as a way to post more to social media. 😎

“Where do you get all of your treasures?”

Though it may sound like I’m evading, I promise that when I say, “anywhere you would imagine”, I am being transparent! I shop all the usual haunts; thrift stores, local charity shops, estate sales, and my closet, of course (haha!). The thrill of the hunt is where it’s at for me and I am drawn to quality construction, natural fabrics, unique cuts, unusual patterns, and shiny things!

Items are NOT usually donated to me, though I have purchased from customers. Every treasure I find, I excitedly bring home, wash and dry, iron or steam, mend if needed, occasionally embellish or rework, and finally price with my own little homemade tags.

Curating a tiny shop like Dream Bohemian is a labor of love and even though I’m only open on the weekends, it’s a full-time endeavor done with passion and careful consideration!

Attached is a quick pic I snapped today of an outfit a customer put together from my racks that includes a hand dyed silk camisole top, a revamped vintage silk top/shrug, and a pair of earthbound harem pants - all for around $85. She had the coolest style and we totally got each other 😂

While I know that I could list many of my items online and fetch better profit, there is something absolutely magical about playing in the store with real people!

If you read all that, you’ve probably been in the shop and know that I have a talent for thorough explanations. 🤪

Hope to see some new faces on the weekends to come! Much love! 😘

story time….

Dream Bohemian was never meant to be an exclusively vintage store. As soon as I opened the doors in late October, it seemed that is what the public wanted. So I ran with it; stuffing the racks while honing in on my obsessive ability to treasure hunt. As my house begins to bust at the seams with what won’t fit in my tiny store, I’m realizing I had veered from my original path of simply expressing myself through artful curation. While the thrill of the hunt is exciting, it is also exhausting and sends me into manic mode - A way of being that fires up my ADHD brain but takes me away from the centered embodiment that I have worked years to learn how to hold.

All that being said, it’s time to clear things out. I’ll be at the store Friday and Saturday 10-5 - giving great deals - most especially on Winter items. I have to clear my head and the space for the dreams I’m manifesting for Spring. Less bulk, very specially curated handmade pieces, and a sweet little line of vintage planter dish gardens.

My heart is telling me to slow down, keep it simpler, do what I love, and only sell what makes my heart sing. I understand this isn’t a “traditional” way of doing business, but I’m learning it is the best way to remain consistent, true to myself, and most importantly - grounded. Hope to see many of you this weekend!

With love,
Charlotta

2025 asked me to step out of hiding.

Opening Dream Bohemian was scary. Sharing something built from my own instincts, taste, and heart took courage.
But you showed up with warmth, curiosity, and encouragement, and I am so grateful I did not let fear win.

Thank you for supporting my little shop, my big heart, and this unfolding dream.
Here’s to choosing visibility anyway 🤍

I believe clothing/fashion should support our authentic expression - not mask it! This is what Dream Bohemian is about for me. My deepest wish is for us all to embrace, love, and celebrate ourselves! ❤️

When a woman awakens and starts to own all of herself, letting go of the need to cover up or defend herself and instead accepts all of her idiosyncrasies, fears, wounds, false programs, flaws, icky moods, fat thighs, sweaty armpits etc and supports her unique imperfect self instead of judging, rejecting and wishing that she were different or like somebody else, she has entered the promised land of freedom and self empowerment.

She starts to drop the posing, defence mechanisms, competitiveness, jealousy and all the false gods that she previously used as crutches, false images or places to hide parts of herself...

What is left is a Woman of Strength, courage, fortitude and a woman that is compassionately understanding towards others because she is able to give to others what she has given to herself...

She becomes fearlessly authentic, she finds her Voice, there is no longer shame, therefore she no longer needs to hide or change any part of herself...

She’s able to overcome any fears of rejection for being true to herself.

Ironically, when a woman claims and accepts her shadow, that which she rejected and suppressed about herself transforms from being dysfunctional to being a strength and the energy that it was previously draining from her becomes available to her.

Such a woman gives others permission to accept themselves as they are, her own freedom becomes contagious.

Through being openly relaxed in her Power she empowers others.
