The kitchen is the room that never really turns off. 🤍
It's where the day starts and where it winds down. Where the homework gets done at the island while dinner is being made. Where the guests always end up no matter how beautiful the living room is. Where the coffee is poured before anyone is fully awake and the wine is opened before the meal is even started.

It is the hardest working room in your home. And it should be the most beautiful one in it.

Every decision in this kitchen — the cabinetry, the stone, the hardware, the lighting — was made with both of those things in mind. Because function without beauty is just utility. And beauty without function is just a showroom.

A great living room isn't about how much space you have... it's about what you do with it. These are the spaces we spend our LIVES in. And since 2012, we’ve worked through more living rooms than we can count. With complete confidence we can say, the principles are exactly the same whether you're working with a grand open floor plan in the suburbs or a chic city condo that requires a little more creativity.

The right scale of furniture that works for the room is where we start. Lighting that makes the space feel warmer and more intimate when that’s what you need. A layout that actually makes sense for how your guests experience the home.

There is no room that holds more of life's best moments... the smaller get togethers with gifts & family, the late night card games, the dinner parties that turn into three-hour conversations you didn't see coming.⁠

We love designing smaller dining rooms and breakfast for our clients. Not every dining room needs to be grand. Sometimes, it’s more about creating cozy spaces for intimate gatherings like this one.

New builds have a particular challenge that doesn't get talked about enough... they come to you perfect on paper and completely without a soul. ⁠

YIKES! That’s intense right? But yes… Everything is fresh, everything is clean, and none of it feels like home yet.⁠
⁠
That's exactly where this started.⁠
⁠
Beautiful construction. Great light. Wonderful bones. And a blank slate that needed warmth, personality, and the kind of layered detail that makes a brand new space feel like it has history.⁠
⁠
So that's what we gave it.⁠
⁠
Furniture scaled for the room and the life being lived in it. A palette warm enough to make those brand new walls feel broken in. Lighting that turned a builder-grade shell into something that finally felt intentional. Textiles, art from the homeowner’s home country, and finishing touches that made it feel like someone actually lives here... beautifully.

More is rarely the answer. 🤍 The rooms that stop you in your tracks… They’re the ones that have something more. They feel comfortable and effortless. The reason people hire us?

Because we are the best at also making comfortable spaces chic - having the eye to know what and when to edit. It’s not about making more decisions.. It’s about making the right ones with the right timing.

Editing is a design skill that many times goes overlooked. People don’t just hire us for what we procure, but also, for what we don’t.

Nature has always been the best designer. We just take notes🌿⁠
We worked with the builder who did this ‘full gut’ kitchen renovation to incorporate cedar wood textures by wrapping existing beams. Because a black and white color palette can be harsh, we put in the effort to soften it with lots of texture and wood graining.

It was critical to use organic textures in every finish. We chose materials for the way they feel as much as how they look. Our goal was to create a warm, layered, and sort of look.

There's something about a kitchen that feels connected to what’s right outside the back door 🙌🏼

There is something about shoot day that never gets old for us. will tell you first. It’s not about the money for us. It’s about creating something gorgeous, functional, and working for months (sometimes years) to make our clients happy with the FINAL product.

The endless planning, sourcing, coordinating, problem solving and thousands of small decisions that go into a project… then, one day, the cameras come out and it all just exists. 🤍

This is the part of the job that reminds you why it’s all worth it.

This Rittenhouse Square apartment came to us with two things already working in its favor: tall ceilings that stop you in your tracks and bones that were begging for something bold. We didn't fight it. We leaned all the way in.⁠

Black and white. Hard and soft. The cool veining of the marble against the warmth of every carefully chosen finish. Ceilings that make the rooms feel less like rooms and more like moments.⁠
⁠
There's a particular kind of luxury that doesn't announce itself in color… it announces itself in proportion, in material, in the confidence to keep things simple and let the craftsmanship speak.

I started Henck Design almost 15 years ago because I know that when you change your home, you change your life. It sounds cheesy, but I believe what I do is a sort of … it serves people who want to level up, or maintain a high vibration for their lives.⁠
⁠
Every project we take on starts the same way: with a real conversation about how you actually live, not knowing the client very well, but embarking on a sort of new journey with them to find out what’s special to them. What’s beautiful to them… what makes home feel like HOME to them.⁠
⁠
I can think of 3 current clients right now. ⁠
For one, its all about family. Family photos, memories, special occasions that they get together for weekly.❤️⁠
For the second, the home design is really about making a space that feels safe, supportive, and helps daily life just feel good. Time at their pool. Time taking calls. Time spent over dinner while watching Jeopardy. 😊⁠
For the third, the interior is a the dream home. It’s the thing they’ve worked their entire lives for. The spaces reflect style, yes, but represent also a sort of satisfaction in knowing, we finally get to do this thing we’ve always dreamt about - and it’s personal. 🙌🏼⁠

That part never gets old for me. Knowing what’s important to my clients and knowing the WHY behind it. Every. Single. Project is incredibly different. It’s a challenge, it’s earned, it’s worth every penny and every moment of time invested.⁠
