Sometimes what looks like a motivation problem is really an isolation problem.

You have ideas. You know there are things you want to change, start or finally follow through on, but when you’re trying to carry your responsibilities, manage your life AND keep yourself moving, it really gets easy to keep pushing your own thing to another day.

Fifty. ✨

Even though these were taken when I was 47.

These are some of my favorite picture from my favorite vacation. We were on an incredible vacation at Botanica and the joy was seeping through my pores.

That’s the feeling I’ve been trying to get to all day. So I thought, maybe, sharing some of these pictures would help conjure up some of that same joy. I’m even wearing the same pink dress today. 💗

Anyway. Thankful and blessed to see another year, just as fine as I was 20 years ago 😅💁🏽‍♀️ Maybe a lil thicker tho. 🫣

I have a habit of forgetting about my accomplishments and not celebrating myself because I’m so quick to move on to the next thing. As I’m entering a new decade (tomorrow! 💁🏽‍♀️), I’m gonna make a promise to myself to do two things:

1: celebrate myself loudly and more often
2: TALK ABOUT the things I’m doing and ask for what I want.

So in the spirit of both of those things, I am so, so proud of myself because I almost gave up. I almost let it all go! But when I woke up one morning to almost 200 unexpected comments from people telling me how much they loved my clothes & my prints, I knew there was no way I could quit.

And here I stand, 2 months after launching this mini-collection, and I’ve reached SO MANY new customers, sold 500+ pieces in *just* these 2 prints. 🥹 All because I wouldn’t allow myself to give up.

The funny thing about retail is that one good month is just one good month. Which means, I gotta KEEP having good months in order to keep things going. I never want anyone to assume, from watching, that everything is great. Yes, this number is fantastic and I need to keep runnin ‘em up cuz these kids will eat me out of house and home if I don’t! 😅✨

So, the ask? Like, share, comment, repost, add to cart 😅 All the things that’s gonna help ya girl continue on this path and keep the joy party goin.

If there’s one thing I’ve learned from building businesses, raising a family, creating a career I never could’ve planned for and changing my mind a few times along the way, it’s that joy and mess usually exist at the same time.

Kalilah (Kalilah Wright) and I have spent the last several months having the conversations behind the highlight reel. Celebrating each other, talking each other off the ledge, challenging each other and occasionally saying, “Girl…absolutely not.” 😂

Now we’re letting y’all in on those conversations.

I really almost talked myself out of all of this.

And then y’all started commenting, DMing, asking about these prints, hyping me up and reminding me that maybe I wasn’t done. Maybe I was just tired.

These two prints have had such a beautiful run since June, and almost 430 pieces later, I’m still kind of in all of what y’all helped make happen.

It’s more than the sales. It’s giving me my confidence back and reminding me that my work still matters.
