Earlier this week I had a dream that New York was blanketed in snow ❄️ But I know spring is finally here because my landlord turned the hose back on. BIG DEAL, lol. With chickens that backyard water source is clutch 💦 Back to the dream though – I think that was my subconscious nudging me to post the rest of my snow photos. The whole shoot is up on the blog. This is me on a normal day: no make up and no filter! A friend recently sent me an article by titled"Farmers, Foragers and Homesteaders are the New Fashion Influencers". While I don't know if I can be considered an influencer anymore, and I certainly don't have a rustic lifestyle, I do love my chickens! And I tell everybody I know (with a modicum of outdoor space) that they should get some.

If you asked me who my favorite chicken is, I might say Exegala, because I love her yellow and gray feathers and her cute tufted cheeks. But then I might say Roseanne, who so elegant and our most reliable egg layer. Or I might say Winnie, who is beautiful and perhaps the friendliest of the flock (at least when it's nice out). Or - gasp - Bebe, because even though she's a bit of a terror she comes out to greet me every night at bedtime. She runs over to me and waits for me to pick her up and put her back in the coop. So I don't know who my favorite is, but I will say this: Serafina is the BEST at chicken cuddles. She's the most comfortable with me, and while it's SO HARD to get a good chicken selfie, she's the best of the bunch.

Oh, and I don't always wear makeup and sequins, but... some days I do!

I’ve been so heads down the past couple of weeks I’ve barely taken any selfies. Seriously, the only ones I have are me with my chickens. So instead, here’s an outfit from the fall that I never posted (and a few chicken photos too). It’s been a bit since I wore a full outfit, but I’m looking forward to some pomp and circumstance over my upcoming birthday weekend 🥳

to last year's holiday card. Here's a snippet:

""Hindsight is 2020". This is the year of hindsight! Short an act of time travel, what might it look like to live in a year of hindsight? I think it's time. Slowing down, thinking, considering, pausing."

I'll say one thing for 2020 - it definitely forced us to slow down, think, consider and pause. I truly do not think the movement would have gained so much support among the general population had so many people not been stripped of distractions and forced to stay at home. What a tragically fortuitous series of events!

I've been thinking about this photo for other reasons, too. On its face I see joy, but it's also a reminder of what I lost in 2020: my job, a sense of security, feeling like my life was making progress, etc. This photo was taken at our holiday party in LA last December. I can't look at it and not feel a tinge of sadness.

But at the same time, I have so much gratitude. I've been so lucky this year. People ask me how I'm doing and I say, 'I'm ok right now, but ask me again next month and you may get a different answer'. But then next month the answer is the same. I'm still ok!

I haven't sent this year's holiday cards yet (last year's went out on Jan 4) so I don't have any new sentiments to share quite yet, but tonight I'll be toasting to vulnerability, empathy, and gratitude. Cheers! 🥂

Merry Christmas 🎄 thankful for my nieces for suffering through a photo shoot with auntie 📸😆 I feel very lucky that I’m getting to spend time with family this year. Wherever you are, whomever you’re with, I hope you find joy this holiday season❣️ oh, and while you’re here, which look do you like better: red ❤️ or purple 💜?

Less than an hour till our family photo shoot today! I made a deal with the kids that they could open their presents from me early IF they dressed up and gave me an hour of photos. It’s a win-win for me because I wanted to see them open the gifts I bought them, anyway. 😂Currently debating if I want to give my sister-in-law’s hot brush another try (although it’s too late for the hot brush + roller combo pictured here), or if I want to give my brother’s sponge brush a try. Either way, I’m just excited to get some good auntie photos! 🥰

Told ya these photos would be back! 💐👀 I’m sitting on the couch with my 8 yo niece and she helped me pick out which photos to post today. I suppose she’s returning the favor because I helped her with a school project yesterday. She and I also made hot chocolate yesterday and had a dance party last night. 👯‍♀️ I haven’t gotten as much time with her older siblings (11 and 13), but tomorrow we’ll all decorate the tree together 🎄😊
