My name is Elizabeth Scheer, but most of my friends and family call me Liz and/or Lizzy. I am currently attending Centenary University to complete my dual masterβs degree in clinical and school counseling. My dream is to work with children and families and eventually open my own private practice! I do have a part time job at the local elementary school in my town as a one on one teacherβs aide, which I absolutely love!

I started crocheting and knitting when I was 12 years old with my grandmother. My grandmother grew up during World War II in Germany. She learned how to crochet, knit and sew from her stepmother so my grandmother used and carried those skills throughout her life even when her and my grandfather moved to the United States.

My grandmother was diagnosed with Dementia after my grandfather passed, my family thought it would be a great idea for her to spend every other weekend at our house so she wouldnβt be alone and she loved being around family. As my grandmotherβs memory kept getting worse and she was struggling with remembering our names and such, one of the few things she always remembered was how to crochet, knit, and sew. The weekends when she would stay with us, her and I would sit together and she would teach me. Knitting and crocheting were one of the many things we bonded over. We would crochet or knit and my grandmother would tell me all of these stories of what she went through while growing up in the war or she would tell me the story of how her and my grandfather met. When she passed away it was really hard for me to get back into this hobby because my grandmother and I always did it together.

It wasnβt until February of this year when I decided to get back into this hobby due to one of my best friends announcing that she was pregnant π€° ! I really wanted to give her gifts that were super meaningful and from the heart so I decided to crochet her hats, headbands and a blanket. When seeing her reaction to the items I made for her, that brought me pure joy and I thought βwhy not bring the same joy to others?β

It was then that Lizzy Loops was created! I love creating something meaningful for individuals and their loved ones as well as bringing their ideas to life! I hope that with a craft that I once did with a person I loved very dearly can in-turn bring so much happiness and joy to my future customers. That is my goal when creating each handmade item for you or your loved ones.
