Shopping local is one of my favorite things to promote. Why not support your friends' businesses, your neighbors or give back to the community? Shopping from people we know can be so fun - added conversations, built relationships, keeping businesses alive and well near us. All great things!
We often think of shopping as some quick venture. "Free Shipping!" "Cash Back" or other catchy slogans. But in reality, some small businesses like myself still offer great deals.
Anyways, here are a few places worth noting where we love to shop or support:
Farmstands:
Harrison Street Farmstand - canned goods and mixes to make life easy, baked goods that are so yummy and other products truly crafted with care! Located in Thompson.
Beal Barn - fresh eggs, whole frozen chickens and milk! They just added a farmstand and it’s so cute! Located near Lake Mills.
Linden Hill Farm - fresh garden goods varying in season, canned pickles and local honey! Located near Thompson.
Schutjer Farmstand - They upgraded their farmstand this year and they offer so many great goodies! They are a Choose Iowa member too. This farmstand also offers the sweetest pumpkin patch in the fall. We love it! Located near Woden.
Small Businesses:
Creatively Pressed with Kelli - small business that crafts shirts for literally every occasion in the community! They are designed and made with care and are always so cool!
Creations by Jess - one of my favorite places, especially around the holidays to shop for all sorts of gifts! From cutting boards and spatulas to wristlets to ornaments, she has got you covered!
Oak & Anvil - A super cool business with metal works that are absolutely stunning. Located near Buffalo Center.
