The internet did not disappoint this week. People did a lot of peopling out there. It did however pull at my heart strings and make me reflect on the parallels of recovery and Christianity.

Neither of these things are well served to approach them the easier softer way. Taking the road less traveled requires some serious and oft times unglamorous commitment.

You don’t need the luck o’ the Irish to stay sober. ☘️
There’s nothing lucky about sobriety—it’s a daily decision. A commitment to stay willing. To stay surrendered. To remember we’re powerless over alcohol, but not without hope.
And here’s the good part—you don’t miss out.
You can still celebrate, laugh, and live a full, convivial life… without the drink.
No planning for damage control tomorrow after calling out with the “Irish flu.”

Trust God- what does that even look like? It means more than just having faith that He exists or even that you KNOW he is good but you don’t think he can love you or bless you because of how you’re living. Wrong- He wants you to cry out to Him and trust He will care for you. You just have to let go and stop trying to run the show. If you run your show anything like I used to run mine…what have you got to lose?

Freedom from the bo***ge of alcohol.
In the simplest ways it looks like taking care of my dogs first, waking up with thanksgiving in my heart and asking God “ how will you use me today” It’s waking up with a clear head and not checking my phone to see who I messaged or what I posted or bought 🤦🏼‍♀️

Your sobriety is worth more than a weekend game. Protecting your recovery is more important than fitting in. You don’t owe anyone an explanation for not drinking.
