I grew up on a dairy farm in rural Pennsylvania and love simple, country life. I have always been creative and as a child I learned to crochet from my grandmother for whom it was a lifelong passion. After our family moved back to central Pa and onto a historic little farm, Walnut Farm Designs was born. The Lord has blessed me with more than I could have imagined by giving me a little business out

of what I enjoy. We raise Blue Faced Leicester sheep and I look forward to being able to sell their excellent wool. These animals provide us with wonderful fiber and lots of entertainment. I love working with the colors of fibers and spinning yarn. There is always something new to try and enjoy creating here at Walnut Farm Designs! This 'Luxurious Lavender' blend was an experiment. I had seen a lavender yarn with white angora in it that had wonderful white fuzzy loft to it at MDSW. It stuck in my head, and I thought.....I need to get a blend done like that! But white Angora was not available to have blended with lavender wool, so I decided to see how natural white Cashmere and Alpaca turned out instead. Alpaca fibers have loft and Cashmere has a little fuzzy loft. This is how it turned out. It softened the lavender just a little and the Cashmere and Alpaca are not quite as obvious as I'd like in the blend. I think once it is spun, the loft will emerge with wear, and I like this blend, but I think I will try again in the future to get an even softer, more ethereal, lofty, soft lavender blend made. I have 4lbs of this blend in stock. I do adore lavender, and this blend will wet or needle felt well.

If you follow the yarn string, you’ll find Mom! 😄 My daughter came downstairs to see a string of yarn stretched from the living room across the dining room and going into my office, that was about chest height. I had grabbed my project and pattern from the couch and then went into my office to turn the light off so I could knit quick outside while water came to a boil on the stove. I didn’t realize my yarn cake was still in the living room and you just needed to follow the string to find where I went! Would have been funny if my daughter would have made a video! Where’s Mom? Follow the yarn!🧶 Sometimes the yarn is ready but dinner is not! 😁

Here are the two new blends that I accidentally included blue stellina in! 'Twinkly Rainbow Storm Cloud' and 'Twinkly Sprinkles'. It does make the blends unique, to not only be rainbow tweed, but also a touch sparkly! The blue stellina is pretty blended in with the natural dark gray Merino wool. walnutfarmdesigns.etsy.com

'Fruity Pebbles' is finally back in stock! Here it is pictured beside Taste the Rainbow. Notice that Fruity Pebbles has a little less tweed in it than Taste the Rainbow. I wanted a rainbow tweed blend, with a little less heavy tweed. It is still a pretty heavy rainbow tweed though. In the comments I'll put a picture of the handspun sweater that I spun up with a blend like Fruit Pebbles, except that it has a very pale Merino wool in it instead of a white Merino wool. 'Gray Tweed Sheep'! It was only recently that I realized that natural gray Polwarth wool was available! I was excited because if I could only have one sheep wool breed, it would be Polwarth. I like that it is a pretty soft wool that feels like it spins up faster than Merino wool because it has a longer staple length than Merino wool and it also wears well. I recently began stocking natural gray Polwarth, but I wanted to get a blend done and I've been stuck on tweeds for a while......so, tweed it is! All the new custom blends!!! I am working on getting them listed, but I won’t finish tonight and they are all over the floor in the store! 😬 Two of the blends I accidentally had blue stellina added to the blend instead of one of the colors of tweed that I meant to have in the blend!!! The blue stellina in the dark gray tweed blend is kinda magical though, I gotta say. I don’t know if you can tell in the video the two blends that accidentally got blue stellina blended in them!
