oated retriever, (FCR) is my inspiration for writing the Blueberry Bear picture book series. Below is Jamie's story:
Only 1-1/2 years old, I lived at a construction site with my four pups and my sister's eleven. Time is irrelevant to us dogs, so I'm not sure how long before Friends for Life (F4L) in Gilbert, AZ rescued us. For six years I lived with a F4L volunteer, who took great care of me. Something happened that I didn't understand, and I was brought back to F4L. I was then placed with another family for a very, very short time. I got creatively destructive. Four months in the shelter seemed gloomy. Who wants a seven year old senior dog, but I couldn't give up hope. My Thanksgiving came a week later, when I was picked up as a foster. My big soft brown eyes, peaked ears and sweet, gentle disposition got me adopted the next day. Now I live in my forever home with my guardian parents, my best friend Doddger (a goofy cat), Tiger and Cleo (two tolerable older cats) and two parakeets (Blues and Jazz). With lots of patience and love from my family, I overcame some fears. With advanced training and devotion, I became a registered therapy dog in September, 2013. That October, I found my niche as a Paws 2 Read Ambassador. I was nick-named, Bear, because when I curl up for a nap, I look like a little black bear. After finding out I love blueberries, my nick-name changed to, Blueberry Bear. Q&A:

Favorite Trick: Making cat food disappear. Skill: I'm a foodie manipulator. Do you see a pattern? Favorite Activity: Swimming at the lake. Yes, the desert has lakes. And I can't forget about the library. Least Favorite Activity: Going to the vet. Worse Experience: Being shot in the leg. This was before I was rescued. Fondest Experience: Finding my forever home and being 'Special'. What You've Learned: There are compassionate humans. Also a few tricks, like wave, shake and crawl. What You've Taught: Reading is fun. What's Your Favorite Book: Blueberry Bear, of course. I also enjoy Skippy Jon Jones and Rocket series; and any books with food. There I go with the food again.
