People always ask how we market ourselves.

Simple. We never stop.

We wear our business everywhere we go. Hoodies, jackets, dresses, leggings… if you see us out in public, chances are you’re looking at a walking billboard.

Here’s a young photographer that spotted us at the mall and stopped to ask questions about photography and the industry. We spent a few minutes chatting and sharing some advice.

I actually love these conversations. If you’re respectful and genuinely trying to learn, I’m always happy to share what 40 years of experience from my husband and years in the industry have taught us.

Here’s a quick clip from our conversation. Good luck to the next generation of photographers.

What is something you’ve learned the hard way that no one could have taught you?

What you’re seeing in this video isn’t an accident.

The wardrobe wasn’t accidental.
The location wasn’t accidental.
The access wasn’t accidental.
The photographers weren’t accidental.
The makeup, styling, posing, lighting, and attention weren’t accidental.

Many of the women who attend our retreats are not professional models. They’re teachers, nurses, moms, business owners, and everyday women.

For a few days, we place them into an environment most people never experience.

We secure locations that aren’t available to the general public. We provide wardrobe, styling, direction, photography, and a team that knows how to create an experience.

Then something interesting happens.

People start stopping them.
People ask if they’re models.
People ask who they work for.
People ask where they’ve been published.

The confidence boost is real.

The mistake some people make is thinking the attention appeared out of nowhere.

No.

What they’re experiencing is the result of years of relationships, industry knowledge, access, planning, investment, and a team working behind the scenes.

The photos are the souvenir.

The experience is the real product.

From Ford model to artist with work hanging in boutique hotels.
Evolution is not an accident. It’s a decision.
I didn’t outgrow the industry. I expanded beyond it.
