While this makes me emotional 🥹, it carries a much bigger meaning for my business.
A simple conversation between me and Amyla Lux Jewels about Dolce & Gabbana’s new marble & wood bag sparked something beautiful.
While luxury brands can create beautiful pieces through modern production, here we are working with a 70-year-old artisan—a generational Kashmiri wood-carving karigar who learned this craft from his forefathers.
For me, this is so much more than a bag.
It’s about supporting a skilled artisan, giving him a platform to showcase generations of knowledge, preserving an art form, and providing meaningful financial support directly to the hands that create it.
With all due respect to designer bags and established brands, the skill, patience, heritage, and countless hours behind something handmade like this are truly invaluable.
So today, let’s take a moment to appreciate everyone in this beautiful chain—from our local Kashmiri karigar to our wonderful buyer Tanya Bhadra Pal, who trusted, appreciated, and believed in handmade.
