Indy Bison vs. Illinois Grizzlies

Inaugural MDFL Championship

And honestly, most of the world expected the Indy Bison to be standing here.

The Bison have been nothing short of dominant all season. From the beginning, they've looked like the clear favorite to take home the inaugural championship.

But the other side of this matchup deserves some credit.

The Illinois Grizzlies had plenty of questions to answer when they faced the Kentuckiana Calvary. There was plenty of doubt about whether they truly belonged in this championship game.

Then the Grizzlies put all of that to rest.

Now they have the biggest opportunity of their season.

The problem?

They've already seen what happens when they face Indy.

Earlier this season, the Bison absolutely dismantled Illinois, winning by more than 50 points. It was one of the most embarrassing losses of the Grizzlies' season.

Now Illinois gets another shot.

The Grizzlies have the opportunity to prove that first meeting was a fluke and that they are a completely different team when it matters most.

But standing in their way is arguably the most dominant organization in the league.

The Bison's closest game of the season came in their opener against the Virginia Royals, and even that game was largely the result of early-season growing pains.

Since then?

Nobody has come close.

Indy has dominated opponents week after week, and they've shown no signs of slowing down.

The Grizzlies earned their spot in this championship, and they deserve credit for getting here. But this is a completely different animal than anything they've faced along the way.

I expect Illinois to fight harder than they did in the first meeting, but I don't expect the outcome to change much.

Ohio Bears vs. Washington Goldenhawks

TPFL Championship

The rematch we didn't think we would get.

The rematch of the 2025 TPFL Championship is here.

These two teams are no strangers to each other, and now they get another chance to settle the score with the TPFL Championship on the line.

The Ohio Bears started this season slowly. Their early record was underwhelming and certainly wasn't turning many heads. But this team refused to stay down.

Then came the turnaround.

The Bears put together back-to-back wins over the Tri-State Longhorns, building a ton of momentum at exactly the right time. Now, somehow, they've worked their way back into the TPFL Championship.

This time, they're looking to rewrite last year's story.

Last year, Washington walked away with the championship.

This year, Ohio wants to bring the trophy home.

Standing in their way is the returning TPFL champion, the Washington Goldenhawks.

Washington has had its ups and downs this season, but they've remained remarkably consistent. When they've lost, they've followed it up with strong performances, and against the teams they're expected to beat, they've handled business.

That's the mark of a championship team.

The Goldenhawks aren't interested in changing the status quo. They want to defend their crown and prove that Washington is still the standard in the TPFL.

But the Bears are coming in with momentum, confidence, and unfinished business.

Can Ohio complete the turnaround and avenge last year's championship loss?

Or will Washington once again stand at the top of the TPFL?

I expect another competitive championship game, but I'm giving the edge to the defending champs.

HERE WE GOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!

2026 PAFL 3A CHAMPIONSHIP!!!

We will travel to Akron, Ohio on August 29th to face off against the #3 Beaver County Artic Bengals in the PAFL 3A CHAMPIONSHIP GAME. Kickoff is set for 6pm at 309 Woolf Ave. Ellet, HS. Akron, OH. Admission is $10 with children 17 and under FREE!

The #3 Bengals (7-2-1NC league) have played well in the playoffs knocking off the defending 3A Champion #6 Columbus Fire in round one on the final play of the game 32-26, then the #2 Cleveland Broncos to advance to the 3A Championship Game.

The #5 Express (7-3 league, 10-4 overall) have been road warriors traveling to the #4 Steel City Bobcats (Pittsburgh) in round one. The Express earned a hard fought 20-15 victory before a unique overtime victory in Detroit against the #1 Michigan Hurricanes.
Tied 14-14, the game went into overtime. Erie had the ball first in overtime and fumbled on their possession. The Hurricanes would get the ball and throw a pick 6 interception which would have ended the game in Erie's favor, but it was blown dead. The game was headed to its second overtime and Erie had the ball when the officials called the game due to no visibility. (The field had no lights). Erie was awarded the victory as it is the home fields responsibility to provide lights per league rules.

These two teams met in pre season with the Bengals pulling away with a 33-20 victory at home.

The Bengals will be in all black uniforms. Erie will be in red jerseys and white pants.

This is most certainly going to be a game you do not want to miss. It all comes down to this, 60 minutes to play it and a lifetime to remember what you did! Will it be a memory worth remembering? Do we hate to lose more than we love to win???? We will find out on the 29th!

This will be the final game in PAFL history as the league is folding after this season.

Cleveland Cobras vs. Cuyahoga Falls Rapids

PAFL 2A Championship

The Clash of the Titans has a champion.

Two of the best 2A teams in the Midwest met on one of the biggest stages in the PAFL, with the championship on the line.

The game was delayed for quite some time due to rain and lightning, but once the teams finally took the field, the Cleveland Cobras wasted no time.

On their opening opportunities, the Cobras struck with an explosive 60+ yard touchdown pass, immediately putting the undefeated Cuyahoga Falls Rapids in unfamiliar territory.

As I said in the preview, the Rapids were going to have to deal with something they hadn't experienced all season being behind early.

The Rapids fought back and found the end zone, but a missed extra point kept them from fully capitalizing. Meanwhile, Cleveland's explosive offense continued to make plays, taking the wind out of the Rapids' sails.

Cuyahoga Falls kept fighting. They had opportunities throughout the game to change the momentum, but every time they appeared ready to make a run, the Cobras had an answer.

And as the game went on, we saw something we hadn't seen from the Rapids all season.

They gave up.

You could see it on the sidelines—from the players to the coaching staff. The undefeated team that had consistently found ways to overcome adversity simply couldn't keep pace with Cleveland.

And the Cobras weren't letting up.

They continued to capitalize, continued to make plays, and continued to pile on until the final whistle.

The Rapids' perfect season is over.

The undefeated 2A team has been dethroned.

And standing at the top of Midwest 2A is the team that found its stride at exactly the right time.
