THIS !!!!
A Little Something We Need To Say.đź©·
Following our tribute to Dolly, we want to make one thing very, very clear.
We know there are businesses suddenly jumping on the “Dolly” bandwagon and releasing merchandise following her passing.
We will not be one of them.
And honestly? We don’t care if that’s an unpopular opinion.
There are a few reasons for this, but the biggest one is simple:
We don’t believe in profiting from someone’s death.
Dolly isn’t a trend. She isn’t a marketing opportunity. And her passing isn’t a convenient excuse to slap her name, likeness, lyrics, or anything remotely Dolly-related on a shirt because suddenly everyone wants a piece of the moment.
For us, Dolly has always been different.
We’re a Sevier County business. We live and work in a community that Dolly has poured an extraordinary amount of love, time, opportunity, and resources into. We’ve watched what she has meant to this area and to the people who call these mountains home.
We’ve also always respected Dolly, her intellectual property, and her trademarks. We’ve deliberately chosen not to create merchandise that competes with, imitates, or takes anything away from the official Dolly brands and businesses.
Because to us, Dolly has always been untouchable.
And that doesn’t change because she’s gone.
If anything, it makes that respect even more important.
Could we make a Dolly shirt? Sure.
Could we probably sell a bunch of them right now? Absolutely.
But that’s exactly why we won’t.
There are plenty of people who will disagree with us, and that’s okay. Everyone gets to make their own choices about what they sell and what they buy.
But The Soft Shirt Place has made ours.
We will never use someone’s death, tragedy, or grief as a sales opportunity.
So if you’re looking for a piece of Dolly merchandise to remember her by, we respectfully encourage you to support the official Dolly channels and licensed sources. That’s where your money can continue to support the legacy she worked so hard to build.
We’ll keep doing what we’ve always done - making our own designs, supporting our own little family business, loving these mountains, and respecting the woman who did so much to make this place what it is.
Dolly gave Sevier County enough. We don’t need to take anything from her🦋❤️
Rest easy Dolly 🦋🩷
