Today my heart is heavy after hearing about Juan’s passing.

I want to thank Melissa and Jessica for recommending me to Juan for my very first DHH (Deaf and Hard of Hearing) Picnic as the Sparkling Bar.

If it wasn’t for Juan believing in me and giving me that opportunity, I may have never experienced what it truly feels like to connect with so many amazing Deaf and Hard of Hearing students, teachers, families, and friends. That day wasn’t just another event—it was the beginning of a journey that holds a special place in my heart.

Seeing everyone smile while wearing ASL-inspired glitter tattoos and celebrating our community is a memory I will always cherish. Thank you, Juan, for opening that door for me and for believing in my work.

Rest in peace, Juan. Your kindness, generosity, and the impact you made on so many lives will never be forgotten. You will always be remembered.
