I’m still not sure how I blink and another week has gone by. It could be the 10 & 11 year olds in the house that keep me on my toes. I have been working on refreshing my online shop I’m thinking about the types of products I want to sell in the long run and slowly getting there. This is an art print I’m testing out at the suggestion of one of my oldest friends. She saw my calendar post in September and suggested it would make a great art print. I’m waiting for the proofs from two different printers, so it will be a week or two if they make it to the shop. What are you working on this week?

I've only printed a limited number of copies this year, and I'm almost 1/3 of the way through them. Grab one (or three) now! The month of May from my 2022 Desk Calendar is one of my favorites. I think I prefer these colors. As I go back through my work over the years, I can see this color theme repeatedly. I think it's the Cape Cod summers embedded in my soul. ⁠

I like to go back over old pages and add something new. Today it was adding stripes to a bunch of florals. These were painted to be separate motifs brought together in photoshop, so the layout makes no sense. Adding the stripes was just for fun and to play with an idea for upcoming work. Now I'm ready to dive in and make it happen! What are you working on today?⁠

I painted a bunch of overall textures last weekend. This week I am cleaning up tiny bits of pixels and putting them into repeat. I know a lot of artists who do this digitally now, but for me the lack of control with paint, my hand, the water and the paper creates a much more natural effect. Im trying to get the hang of Fresco watercolor, but it still feels like an algorithm determines how my brushstroke ends and it’s way too controlled for my slightly wonky style. Perhaps I’ll check out AdobeMax and see if I can pick up some pointers for Fresco. Let me know if you’ve seen any great sessions!
