I do NOT sell any items. I do NOT sell patterns. I crochet simply for the love of the craft and share my progress on items I make. Please do not message me or ask me to make anything for you. LOL. I simply won't do it.

June has been a very productive month! The heat wave has kept me inside and busy.

I'm making an American Flag pattern to hang on a currently empty quilt shelf.

I started making bookmarks. The teabag is a work in progress but i love it! I also made a sleeve for my ipad (under the bookmarks)

I made several more cup cozies and followed along parts of a crochet-along making coasters. It was fun! and now my iced drinks wont leave puddles on my table...

I've been investigating patterns to potentially sell but right now everything is practice! Im determined to work through more stashed yarn!

I started a new scarf project to use up some yarn; made Greg a sleeve for his work ipad, and made a few keychains too. Still working on his blanket, too. Plenty of things to work on going into July!

Do any of you have a favorite hobby? What do you like to do?

Well, during May, I got back into the swing of things a little bit. I decided I am going to scrap my temperature wrap. Not just because I was behind but because changing colors that often is really not my cup of tea. It was gonna be pretty, but I was working on everything but that project so I'm not gonna do that.

instead i got into a "coffee" theme and made several cup cozies. i also made a cute bookmark and another coffee cozy + mug rug with pawprinta for my boss for her birthday. Coffee & Pets seem to motivate me so I am going to woek up some things along these lines for awhile.

Well, I don't have many pictures to share for April. I started several projects but only finished one and didn't touch my temperature wrap. 🫣

I have realized that projects with a lot of color changes are not up my alley, but I also learned a new technique for managing all the ends of the different colors and how to weave them in faster. So even though I am now two months behind on my temperature wrap I'm a little more motivated to get caught up on it. 👍

In April I had a full week of extreme fatigue 😴🫩🥱 where I would go to work come home and snooze most of the evening (outside of dinner) and sleep all night. That was frustrating, but I got through it. I didn't crochet at all that week. Not once. The next week I had a migraine which affected me for a couple days and usually affects my eyes so several more days of not crocheting. Mentally it was frustrating, but I'm finding my rhythm again this week.

so starting out in May, I've already been a little more productive than I was in April. ☺️ I have really been on the fence about making things to sell. I don't wanna feel the pressure of having to produce a lot to build stock, but since I am only looking at it for maybe 2026, I can explore some patterns and techniques and master them so that I can produce higher quality items.

The pouch pictured here is going to be for a keychain. It's wonky and imperfect, so it will either be mine or someone who might want it. I also need to learn how to work with snaps or other ways of securing closures.

At least I'm feeling the spark again and figuring out which patterns are more labor intensive and which ones aren't. I overthink so I am trying to handle all of that now rather than in the future. I don't know if I wanna go to markets with all the set up or try to do things online so there's a lot for me to think about and make decisions about.

Anyway, happy May ! I have already completed one pattern since yesterday and I'm getting ready to start a second one. It's a Crossbody water bottle holder. 💦

I intended to post this Monday evening but it got away from me! I wanted to share the projects I FINISHED in March. lol (cuz I am NOT gonna share all the ones I started lol 😂)

I made a shawl for my mama to wear whenever she wants to - its a hug from me to her 😍

I finished the 6 Day Star blanket - its a throw size - and I do like how it turned out. while I was in Florida, my dog Lucy 🐾 kind of got to it and pulled a few threads so I had to kind of secure a couple places with it. It's probably one I'm gonna keep for us to use when we're lounging on the couch.

I made a bowl cozy - it fits one of my bigger serving bowls - used a couple of cotton scraps to make it! Love how it turned out. Wanna make some smaller ones for soup bowls...

And I did finish my sons blanket in time for his birthday!

I felt pretty good about what I finished! Now I am on to finishing some other things in April that I have started...

After my wonderful vacay in Florida with my mom and getting unpacked, I decided to get caught up on my temperature wrap! I had stopped about mid February so I spent time addding the rest of the month! There are multiple rows of the same colors and then a few different rows as the month warmed up!
Now I can start working on March - which will be fun since I get to add a few rows for those higher Florida temps 😉 🏝️ ☀️

You may have noticed a couple of little changes here. I changed the name and profile pics. I may be coming up with a logo and some other things, but here is where it will start.

I’ve been crocheting for just over a year now. I still feel as though I am a beginner -maybe intermediate beginner - and am learning all the benefits of working on regular crochet projects. It’s not just the gifts I can give or make - it’s the process from the yarn colors, to the textures, to the hooks and everything else.

It has become part of my self-care and therapy. I have a counselor I see regularly for a variety of reasons - started because I was grieving the loss of my dad and has turned into good therapy as I navigate every day life. Crochet is a beneficial part of it. It allows me to express my creativity and noticeably regulates my nervous system. It’s hard to explain that, but I have felt the literal benefits of lowering my stress & blood pressure & tension. It helps me deal with chronic pain and fatigue. It helps me express my love for my family. Like when I make their projects like blankets or hats I am picturing them in my mind - remembering good times, praying for them, and imagining the way the project will fit them or cover them. It provides a physical activity that requires some intention and focus and the things it’s doing for my brain and my mental state are just so incredible to me.

I wanted to find a name that fit me better - my crochet page and my love for coffee and “hooked” had to be part of that. Because I am feeling the positive benefits of continuing my crochet journey, this new name was born “Positively Hooked Crochet”.

Thanks for reading and I hope you continue to enjoy the little things I share here. I do hope one day to be able to make things and have a little business, but for now I’m content to make gifts for people I care for…

PS - my broken hook has been replaced and I am thrilled! The company replaced it for FREE. And my new hook is just GORGEOUS!!!
