It's been a while since we had a really sunny day. I took full advantage of the uv rays and finally got to try out the fabric cyanotype kit I got for Xmas. I've never played around with this medium before so it was an experiment and a learning experience. Fabric content REALLY matters. I thought all of it the fabric was natural fibers, clearly it was not. Additionally, I think the canvas had some industrial-strength sizing or something on it that remained even after machine washing, because it didn't absorb the cyanotype medium very well or evenly. It was fun, I'll definitely be doing this again, but only with fabric I'm 100% confident is suitable.

I am so incredibly grateful for the tremendous support for my art last week - it was the most successful week the tie dye tent has had in all 22 years that I have been setting it up. I have to give a huge thanks to everyone who stopped by on Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday - it was an absolute joy to see the familiar faces who've been supporting me for years (some of you for decades) and dozens of new folks who stopped by for the first time. It's truly heartening the way you are sustaining this small, local artist, even during tough economic times. I'm so appreciative of each and every one of you. 💗 Another huge thank you to the events that made last week possible - Crete Woman's Club Garden Walk Art and Craft Fair and Frankfort Bluegrass Festival. 💗 Both events had such hard-working volunteers that made me feel supported and safe. I love being a part of these local summer traditions. Thank you, again, friends and fam - your Tie Dye Lady's heart is full, even if my hands are tired! ✌️💗😊

It's Frankfort Bluegrass Festival weekend!! Harvest Moon Creations tent will be set up near the Prairie Park Stage for the third year in a row and I can't wait to hear the amazing musicians and see all the friendly faces that stop by to see my tie dye! The weather is looking gorgeous, hope to see you Saturday and Sunday on the Frankfort Square! And yes, I did make a few special guitar and banjo tie dyes to celebrate! 😁🪕🎶

Tired of AI slop masquerading as art? Same here! Come visit my tie dye tent this week for some handmade, affordable, wearable art! My tie dyes start by hand-drawing the designs with washable marker, then making hundreds of tiny folds by hand. Then it's hand-tied with cotton string (some are even hand-sewn with temporary stitches). I mix up my dyes myself and hand-dye each piece with squeeze bottles. When it's time to rinse, I snip every cotton string by hand (I save and use the technicolor string in other art projects), rinse each piece by hand before hand-wringing. The final step is machine washing and drying. Each shirt, onesie, and dress is a labor of love and no two pieces will ever be exactly the same. It's truly the antithesis of mass-produced fast fashion.

It's Crete Woman's Club Garden Walk Art and Craft Fair time! I'll be in the tie dye tent at Crete Public Library District all day on Thursday, July 9 with a big batch of fresh, crispy tie dye and more! Come on by, there's going to be lots of great artists and artisans!

I wrenched my bad knee slipping in the muddy garden. 😭 I will not be able to set up the tie dye tent at Tulip Tree tomorrow. I'll miss you all! R.I.C.E. for me for the next few days. 💔💔

Hey friends, I'm doing a pop up sashiko-inspired mending session at the RockShop60430 today (Saturday, June 20) from 1-3 as part of their Summer Solstice activities. Bring a garment that needs mending or decorating or make a patch to take home! It's only 15 buckaroos and you go home with sashiko needles, thread, patch, knowledge etc. 😁 Hope to see you there!

Sorry folks! The Tie Dye Lady is having a POTS flare up and isn't going to be able to manage the Gathering Market at Tulip Tree Gardens this Thursday. I'll miss you all!
