With the official season of The Chi coming to a close, I find myself reflecting on the incredible performance of the beautiful Lynn Whitfield . The entire cast was amazing, but seeing a true icon like her on screen brings back wonderful memories.

I remember when I was blessed to have a brief phone conversation with her. I have admired her style and grace ever since seeing her in A Thin Line Between Love and Hate with Martin Lawrence. It was truly an honor to have her rock not one, but two of my pieces.

Sometimes you have to take a trip down memory lane to remember how far you have come.

Transparency moment.

In 2016, I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis and it changed my life in ways I could have never imagined. Some days test me in ways I didn’t see coming, but I rise to meet them every time.

Those who know me, know… and as MS Awareness Month comes to a close, I’m choosing to share a piece of my story. This year marks 10 years of living with MS.

Along this journey, I found something I didn’t even realize I needed…a community. We Are ILL is an organization for Black women living with MS, Lupus, and NMO that is redefining what “sick” looks like. It creates a space for connection, support, and real conversations about what this life truly looks like.

As a proud member of the Advisory Board, I’m committed to raising awareness and supporting programs that uplift and empower women navigating MS every day.
