Today we celebrated Diana’s final day as our Fashion Merchandising intern from Texas Woman’s University, and it was definitely bittersweet. 💛

When Diana chose The Velvet Echo as part of her fashion education, we were honored. As a small, independent resale boutique, we had the opportunity to share a side of the fashion industry that’s built on sustainability, craftsmanship, merchandising, styling, customer experience, and giving beautiful pieces a second life.

Over the course of her internship, Diana brought curiosity, creativity, professionalism, and a willingness to learn. She jumped into every opportunity with enthusiasm, and it was a joy watching her grow.

Today we surprised her with a little trophy (because we think she’s a winner! 🏆) and a $100 gift card to thank her for all of her hard work and the positive impact she made on our little shop.

Diana, thank you for spending part of your journey with us. We know you’ll do amazing things in the fashion industry, and we’re proud that The Velvet Echo gets to be a small part of your story.

One of our favorite things is watching customers give our little artist a new pose each weekend. It has become an unexpected tradition, and it never fails to make us smile.

This beautiful 1950s/60s black wool swing coat with its luxurious mink collar arrived with a few signs of age. A loose button, a detached label, heavy wrinkles, lint, and wool felting had hidden much of her original beauty.

So we gave her the care she deserved.

Meet Carlos & Maria. 💀🖤

If you’ve been in Denton long enough, there’s a good chance you’ve crossed paths with these two.

Carlos and Maria have been beloved members of our community for more decades than anyone can count. Handcrafted by an incredibly talented local artist—now 85 years young—they’ve become part of Denton’s Halloween folklore, bringing smiles and stopping people in their tracks year after year.

We’re beyond honored that they’ve found their new home at The Velvet Echo.

To us, they’re more than decorations. They’re pieces of Denton’s story—living reminders that art, tradition, and a little bit of spooky magic deserve to be preserved and celebrated.

Stop by and say hello to the newest (and oldest!) members of our shop family. We have a feeling Carlos and Maria are going to love greeting everyone who walks through our doors.
