Hi there! My name is Maile McManis and I am the founder, owner and operator of two companies - Potty Fairytales LLC and Sewing With Smiles. Potty Fairytales LLC is a limited liability company established in 2022 and sells potty training books and tools that utilize mythical and magical creatures to make potty training easier. I have always loved problem-solving and creating products to make my life, as well as others, as easy as possible. So when my mom shared stories about the difficulty of potty training four kids (including me), I wanted to find a way to help other parents experiencing the same challenges.
Potty training is something that every person has to go through in life, no matter the nationality, race, income or religion. For some, teaching a child to use the toilet is easy peasy, but for most, it is a time-consuming endeavor, riddled with wet pants, messy floors, and frustrated parents and children. In fact, more than 80% of children experience setbacks during toilet training, according to Elizabeth Pantley, author of The No-Cry Potty Training Solution. Common potty training problems include anxiety, refusal to use the potty, and attempts to delay or avoid defecation. In addition, it's common for kids to have both daytime accidents and also wet the bed while sleeping. Children may also feel reluctant to use toilet facilities when they are away from home. After learning all of this, I set out to find a research-based, low maintenance, stress-free solution for parents that is also fun for children.
Potty Fairytales LLC created a potty training tool that is appealing to both children and parents/caregivers. What started with just an idea for a story has grown into a published full color book that is accompanied by a plush fairy doll and a hard plastic potty equipped with a hidden “treasure drawer”. The story encourages the little one to use the potty, and both the fairy and potty provide a hands-on “toy” that the child can hold, talk to, play with and use to help them on their potty training adventure. Parents can choose to leave treats in the drawer that can be used as rewards for using the potty. This approach brings potty training to life, makes it engaging and can be used at home and on the go to encourage consistency and courage when using unfamiliar bathroom facilities.
Currently I am working towards finding a manufacturer to help mass produce Lotty the Magic Potty Princess because I am still a full time high school student with a bunch of extra-curricular activities. As such, for the near future I have limited production abilities until I can enter into an economical manufacturing deal.
