I thought I’d share a little “about me” for those curious about the person behind the work!
Hi, I’m Vanna!🧡
I’m a completely self-taught silversmith, creating each piece by hand in a small shed-turned-workspace in my backyard. Born and raised in small-town Minnesota. I’ve always loved experiencing the full intensity of all four seasons here from the humid summer days spent by the lakes and loons, to the autumn colors, the first peaceful hush of winter (before the real cold sets in, anyway), and the sense of renewal that comes with spring. There’s a deep pride that comes with calling this place home and I look forward to sharing it with yall
In addition to my love for silversmithing, gardening, photography and flow art, I’m a full-time tattoo artist specializing in vibrant color work and have proudly owned a private studio for the past 11 years.
About a year ago I was really searching for another medium to create with and I felt especially drawn to rings and necklaces which have always felt to me like protective amulets rather than just jewelry. Small, powerful symbols meant to be worn with intention. Through that aspiration, on a cold gloomy winter day I cleared out a small space in my workshed and
Dark Side of the Loon was born. I strive to create a reflection of my love for nature, oddities, the mystery in found objects and the art of manifestation through crystals and gems. Come along with me on this self-taught journey into creating wearable art for everybody! Pieces that carry energy, story, and spirit, peices that im hoping make you feel a little more complete, every sparkle to catch that spark in your eye and every detail a whisper, from the dark side of the loon.💛
