Free heart pattern
Here's a beginner-friendly crochet heart pattern for a medium-sized heart!

Materials:

Worsted weight yarn (any color)

Crochet hook (size H/5.0mm or suitable for your yarn)

Scissors

Tapestry needle

Abbreviations (US Terms):

ch = chain

sl st = slip stitch

sc = single crochet

dc = double crochet

tr = treble crochet

Instructions:

Round 1:

1. Make a magic ring, or ch 4 and sl st into the first ch to form a ring.

2. Ch 3 (counts as first dc), then work all of the following inside the ring:

3 tr

3 dc

ch 1

1 tr (this forms the bottom point of the heart)

ch 1

3 dc

3 tr

2 dc

3. Ch 3, sl st into the center of the ring to close the first round.

Round 2:

1. Ch 3, then work the following around the heart shape:

(2 dc) in the first stitch

3 dc in the next stitch

2 dc in each of the next 3 stitches

1 dc in each of the next 2 stitches

(dc, tr, dc) into the tr stitch from Round 1 (bottom point of heart)

1 dc in each of the next 2 stitches

2 dc in each of the next 3 stitches

3 dc in the next stitch

(2 dc) in the last stitch

2. Sl st into the starting ch-3 to finish the round.

3. Fasten off and weave in ends.
