Congratulations to Mitchell Staats for having the closest guess for the horsepower capacity. The horsepower rating of this clutch engaging at 400rpm, operating at 1200 rpm in a trailing orientation would be 8,200hp.

Thought you might be interested in seeing a clutch we rebuilt a little while back in our repair department. I placed a FIRE clutch and racing drum on one of the clutch links just to give you a reference to the size of the clutch. We sold this clutch for an industrial fan 18 years ago and it was ready to be relined along with new clutch springs & bushings.

I will give away a free racing clutch to whomever can guess closest to the hp rating of this clutch (only one guess allowed). Assume the clutch is engaging at 400 rpm, operating at 1200 rpm, and running a trailing shoe orientation. If there are multiple correct answers then I will randomly draw from the correct answers to determine the winner. Contest will run until the end of September. Congratulations to Jared Stermer from Millerton P.A. on his first NYDKS series win in clone medium at Allegany Memorial Speedway last weekend. Jared was running the Inferno Fire clutch. Great Job!

If you run a Fire clutch, we are now recommending a spacer part number 8444-22-009 3/4"I.D.x 1 1/16" O.D. x 040" between the grease trap and bearing race. We experienced some grease traps not having sufficient clearance to the drum when the clutch bolt is torqued. The result is a broken key in the grease trap. The part will still function without the key but for optimal performance the extra spacer adds an additional .040" clearance between the faces. This will reduce the chance of the grease trap dragging on the inside face of the drum and taking out the key in the trap. Clutches are now shipping with this extra washer in the kit along with a hard copy of the instructions. We are recommending the extra washer on any clutch with a grease trap. We are in the process of updating those instructions. The new instructions are step by step with photos for inboard and outboard mounting.

Here is a link to the instructions for the new FIRE clutch. The FIRE clutch has a shoe with bonded friction lining. The lining was engineered to have the dynamic coefficient of friction and the static coefficient of friction very close to the same value. This allows a much flatter lock-up profile with reduced engine bogging. The optional tuning weights from the Blaze or Flame can also be used in the Fire clutch. It is the best clutch for sprint racing in the LO206 classes where you need optimal acceleration off the corners and need to adjust the lock-up profile for the different color restrictor slides. We recommend running the Fire in a leading orientation for sprint and oval racing. The clutch is very smooth during engagement and is easily cleaned with brake cleaner. The Fire clutch includes all of the required spacers and mounting hardware in the box when you purchase the clutch.

The new Inferno FIRE Racing Clutch. Shipping to dealers in May. The FIRE has a bonded high performance friction lining that makes a smooth transition from the slip you need for optimal acceleration off the corners. The clutch includes a special oil & grease shield to keep contamination off of the shoe surface. We have a brand new heat treated sprocket to accept the needle bearing. The needle bearing helps the kart roll easier through the corners and a better release of the clutch entering the corner. All of these upgrades improve acceleration off the corner and reduce the push through the corners. We upgraded the inner race with a material change and heat treatment so you can get optimal performance and long life. Clutches will come standard with the mounting hardware and correct spacers to quickly mount to your LO206. The hardened race and spacers that come with the clutch will clamp the clutch tight to the crankshaft to minimize fretting. The high performance friction lining is cleaned with brake cleaner so maintenance is a breeze.

The Inferno Flame clutch will also get a makeover starting in May. The Flame will come standard with the mounting hardware, upgraded race, and needle bearing design.

Set up and ready for the 2016 Winter Kart Show in Springfield Illinois. Stop by the booth and see the new Inferno FIRE racing clutch. The clutch comes standard with a needle bearing, high performance friction lining and a new cover to catch any grease coming out of the bearing. We added extra venting in the drum so any debris that makes its way in the clutch can escape through the vents. The Inferno FIRE will start shipping in May to a dealer near you.
