⭐ WHY WE STARTED
During his many years teaching martial arts, our founder, Phil Ventrello, felt a deep responsibility to reach and protect far more people than he ever could through his self-defense classes alone. He had seen the painful consequences of victimization firsthand and knew that not everyone could commit to the demands of traditional martial-arts training. He also recognized that many self-defense products create a false sense of security — and can fail when people need them most.

Blending his martial-arts expertise with his graphic-design talent, Phil created the MUNIO Self Defense Keychain. The name “MUNIO,” Latin for I protect/I defend, reflects our mission: empowering everyday people with real confidence and real safety.

To test MUNIO, Phil’s partner and co-founder, Michele Vorberger, stepped in — with zero self-defense background. In simulated attacks, she used MUNIO to protect herself effectively, proving how quickly anyone can learn to use it.
