According to the StyleCheer article “16 pieces of Vintage Clothing in Your Closet That Are Suddenly Collectible” CLOZY offers [or has offered in the past] 11 of the 16 vintage collectable clothing items!!!! Collectible? OK, but we say wearable, durable and affordable. #2 The Velour Tracksuit [we have two currently in the booth -- one rust and one purple]. #3 Vintage Levi 501 Jeans. Yes, but rarely. #4 The Vintage Coach Leather Bag – we’ve had at least 3 of them in our CLOZY booth – all sold quickly. In spring 2026 we offered a 1960s Bonnie Cashin for Coach Portfolio Briefcase [$225] that did not sell. [It’s available – send us a message.] #5 Designer Silk Scarves. Yes, we have had some. We will keep offering them when possible. #6 Scottish Cashmere Sweaters. REALLY? YES! We also carry 100% Irish Aran Wool Sweaters for a fraction of what you’d pay to bring one back from Ireland. [Tour of the Guinness Brewery not included.] #8 Vintage Concert & Tour Tees. Rarely and only recently, but still… #9 The 1990s Fleece Pullover. Yes, but they did not sell well in our area so we are unlikely to stock them in the future. #11 Pendleton Wool Shirt-Jackets. We have two in CLOZY today [$45 each], along with the popular LL Bean Heavyweight Flannel Shirts. #12 The Denim Trucker Jacket. YES – we had them available during June Denim Days and there are some in stock now. #13 The Camel Wool Overcoat. Seriously? We have offered 100% wool coats – cleaned and ready to wear – and will have them in stock again in November. #15 The Quilted Barn Jacket. YES, we have them in stock now. They usually hang next to the Carhartt Duck Jackets [$45 each]. #16 The Vintage Silk Robe. Well, another item that we have offered in previous years but had no buyers. Maybe we should reconsider this.

Hunting apparel has arrived in CLOZY in time for the Fall Open House at The Shoppes at Johnny Appleseed. 10% off storewide Saturday-Sunday, October 17 & 18. We also have Levis, LL Bean and Carhartt denim jeans. If you seek inspiration for Halloween, how about a costume onesie [cow, chicken, Garfield & reindeer], a pirate, Dorothy from Oz or a stylish witch? We started to bring $10 sweaters and will keep adding more until the January $5 Sweater Sale. What’s next? We’ll have Christmas sweaters and décor starting November 1st! YAY! Happy Shopping!

What treats we have for Open House Shoppers! First, a selection of 13 hand-painted pumpkins from PumpkinLady. [$10 each] Such fun for gifts or porch sitting. Next, a vintage 5-drawer dressers we saved from the Furniture Grim Reaper. The bi-color beauty has natural wood drawer fronts, textured side panels and is painted in a deep black to accentuate the lusciousness of the wood. Square black k***s set off the contrast. The drawers are lined to protect whatever needs protecting. It measures 17.5" D x 28.5" W x 47.5" H. [$275] Also new, a super comfy wicker chair with custom leather cushions. Imagine sitting by a fire to enjoy a book and watch your favorite TV event. [$225]. We’re prepping our hunting apparel, more sweaters and a few costumes – hoping to have them in stock before the weekend. It’s going to be COLD start for the Fall Open House at The Shoppes at Johnny Appleseed– a good time to be inside shopping, eating and enjoying 10% off storewide.

It’s a week before the Fall 2026 Open House at the The Shoppes at Johnny Appleseed. We’ve been stocking up on treasures and here are a few highlights of what we’re offering. Making crafts for Christmas or a junk journal? We have buttons, jars of old costume jewelry, bags of lace, ribbon, rik-rak, and metal rings, stamps, keys, and seashells. We rearranged the kitchen area and brought a set of Dansk Lillihavn Dinner Plates [6 for $96] and bread plates [2 for $18] Just in time to celebrate 100 years as a parish, we have a copy of the 2-ring cookbook from St. Bart’s Church in Norwich, NY [$14]. Our most impressive item of this week is the 1921 Coppes Napanee Dutch Kitchenet [aka hoosier] SOLD!

We brought additional sweaters to CLOZY in anticipation of milder, seasonal weather. More coming as time permits. We’ll let the pictures do the story of what’s new this week. Fall has officially arrived, daylight is shrinking and the leaves are turning. It’s a great time for a trip to the The Shoppes at Johnny Appleseed New this week: Oak commode with 3 drawers and a cupboard – perfect bedside table for books, glasses, remote controls, lamp, etc. -- 36”H x 30.5”W x 21”D. [$95]; Pink hand-made 4-drawer chest with glass k***s, lined with delightful forest fauna paper -- 28.5”H x 22.25”W x 13.25”D [$75]; Faux poison bottles for your Halloween haunting; More cutting boards and hammered aluminum trays for football food; A large selection of Syracuse University apparel, $6 T-shirts, flannel shirts, Levi, Carhartt and LL Bean denim jeans, leather jackets, and a modest selection of Buffalo Bills and collectable team apparel. We have the mahogany cabinet filled with Pfaltzgraff Heritage dinnerware [company coming for Thanksgiving?] but the cabinet can also be useful in a hallway to store linens, in a bathroom for toiletries, or in a dining room for liquors and glassware 36"W x 15.5" D x 72"H [$175]

A is for aluminum. The metal alum [symbol Al and atomic number 13] was known as early as the 5th century BCE but it was not until 1825 that scientists refined it to aluminum. By 1889 scientists had solved the processing problem and during WWI and WWII, aluminum was widely used in production of aircraft. Increased demand for aluminum made it an exchange commodity in 1978. Between 1920-1950, aluminum made its way to wedding registries and millions of households. Decorative hammered aluminum trays, pitchers, snack platters and coasters flooded stores and most households boasted of a variety of aluminum items used for entertaining. Aluminum trays are the original charcuterie boards -- easy to clean, lightweight, versatile and decorative in their own right. We have a good selection of aluminum trays, dishes, measuring cups, cookie cutters and scoops in the Alpha Omega booth.

Flannel shirts and uranium glass are here! We're working to finish a Napanee hoosier, more oak dressers and side tables. Can you believe it's almost October! Come to the Apple Kitchen this weekend for hot soup and sandwich, Saturdays and Sunday, noon-4pm [or until sold out]
