FALL COLORING C.O.N.T.E.S.T 🎃🍦

Each year when fall comes around, I like to work with someone local to put together some type of "classic" fun for our kiddos. In the past we've done contests, drawings, coloring, and pumpkin paintings. I really enjoy drawing up coloring pages, I find it relaxing lol, so I figured this fall, we would go back to something simple.

This year I reached out to Neptunes Ice Cream Shop here in town and asked if we could use their establishment to hand these contests out, and if they would like to display them. They said YES!!

I am very excited to work with them on this, as the kids will be so excited to see their art showcased.

C.O.N.T.E.S.T INFORMATION:

🎃Please pick up a contest at Neptunes Ice Cream Shop in downtown Evart. 137 N Main St. -OR- At your session with Ol' Mother Hen. You may also print this if it's easier on you.

🎃Contests MUST be turned in at Neptunes Ice Cream Shop. While you are there, be sure to try out a delicious treat!

🎃Ages to participate are 0-12 years.

🎃These will be sectioned into age groups when judging, based off how many are turned in.

🎃9/5 through 10/17.

🎃Name, Age, and parent's phone number written on the BACK please. Do NOT write the child's full name or contact information on the front of the paper.

Win.ners will be announced on this page, and PRIZES will be sent straight to their home. I like to base the gifts off something kids are interested in, same as I did with "Thank You Gifts".

**Edit: The 4th is full. However, I can open up some earlier slots in the day. With that, if we have full sun and the way I do photos, there will be heavier shadows to the photos. Some people love it, some people hate it... but those slots are now open. Also, I can place a couple people in the 11th, that can make that date easier.

This year we are going to do things a tad bit different for fall "minis." ---Any NEW clients, please contact me first. I just want to make sure you are aware that everything we do here, we just sort of wing things in a non-"professional" way for lack of a better term. lol. My clients are all aware of this, but I know some of the new guys might not. I just like to keep everything open and clear.

October 4th is open for sessions after 3pm. That's it. We will get an idea of a time you think will work, we will jot your estimated time down, and then if something needs wiggled around... we wiggle.

My biggest issue with "minis" all these years is that time crunch pressure for parents. I can't tell you how many times I've had a client show up completely frazzled and in tears because the stress of making that exact time was too much with rounding the kids etc. So, this year we are just scratching it. In total 2026 Ol' Mother Hen fashion... we are winging it. If you WANT a firm time, we will peg you with one. If you don't, and you don't mind waiting for a hot second for a turn... that's what we are doing.

Sessions will be easy and stress free. $80. 6-10 edited photos. I do photos fast, so I can do these in as little as 5 minutes for those wanting in and out, or we can settle in more for the kids for up to 20 min. (That's a $20 discount for fall sessions on a weekend.)

--If you want a specific time: Let me kow
--If you want to wing it, please understand you might need to wait a min between other sessions, and we will throw you in here and there.
--If this gets too full, I will stop booking.
--If you pick a specific time, I'll need you to try and be there at that time. That way I can keep things moving.

Also: Reminder that fall sessions like this can be used for Friends... family... just kids... engagement pics... senior pics... hell, show up in your wedding dress and we will get your wedding pics. All types of sessions are treated the same here. 🤍😅

I'm genuinely curious.

Does anyone else use Pinterest to help them keep track of the things in life that make your whole being, come alive? The small things that fuel your soul, make your emotions flood, and ignite your mind and heart? I don't use social media much, just when it's needed... but I find that collecting photos on Pinterest allows me to feel "seen" and "understood", to myself. It gives me a visual understanding of who I really am inside, and a goal to someday be able to reach a person that I have craved a lifetime to become.

If you are a Pinterest ju**ie too, I'd love to see a screenshot or 10, of some things that make you... SPARK. I think it would be fun to look at each photo you saved, just to see what everyone is loving for themselves! 🖤

Well, I'm winding down on my pickle making ... so, before the dill goes bad, I'm once again offering it up. FREE.

This year there isn't as much, but still PLENTY for personal use. I'm going to have to turn away those this year that usually come and collect hundreds of stems though. Sorry guys. Next year I will have another field of it for everyone, but this year I lost half my row due to having the kids help me w**d. LOL

I also have: Lemon Balm, Sage, Mint, A small amount of Kale, Borage, and a BUNCH of Kohlrabi that never bulbed (they say you can harvest and freeze/eat the leaves, so if you do that... I have a ton you can have.) ... and some other stuff out there that won't be used up by us. So, let me know. 🤍🤍

Something I've JUST started doing this year, for the first time ever... 20 years after starting photos... is to just "take the picture." It's not what I'd suggest when learning to do photos lol, but I am finding that it just fits who I am at this point in my life better. I rarely worry about the lighting, I just adjust a touch here and there, and work with what we took in that moment. I got tired of trying to nail down that perfect coloring, and fell in love with what was happening in front of me, more. 🤍

Today, Daws is taking the news of Dolly Parton passing, pretty hard. She absolutely loved her. May we remember to take in the small moments, breath in the fresh air after a hard rain... and stop to really smell the flowers. Remind ourselves of the good in the world. ..... and "when you see someone without a smile, give them yours". ...... May we all live a little more like Dolly.
