Reflecting on the gratitude I have for hidden gem that is , and the opportunity to share in a weekend of craft, good company and delicious food (oh my gosh the food).

In just two days, 8 students made a total of 82 brooms!! I’m still in awe of the focus, creativity and energy everyone brought to class. We learned to tie and sew a full-sized sweeping broom, a traditional turkey wing whisk and a woven handled whisk and then students took their new skills and ran with them. Some experimented with Tampico fibers, while others learned to make hawks tails, cobwebbers or created something completely new. We even got the opportunity to make broomcorn tools for the paper marbling class to experiment with which was an unexpected and delightful treat. More on that to come.

If you need me, I’ll be over here pretending it isn’t Monday and that I’m still sitting at the picnic table with a steaming cup of coffee watching the sun come up over the dewy gardens while the sound of oxen echos down from the pasture nearby. ☕️🧹🍂
