Years ago, wearing an anklet was often misinterpreted as a sign of prostitution or an attempt by q***r women to attract people like themselves.

Unfortunately, the negative interpretations overshadowed the simple possibilities: fashion, personal preference, or even a symbolic representation of something meaningful. ( Google the meanings)

A woman could wake up one day, decide to wear her bracelet around her ankle because she loves how it looks there, and that’s all there is to it. No hidden meaning. No negative representation.

I’m happy we’re gradually moving into a generation where these misconceptions are being challenged and people are learning to let others express themselves without attaching unnecessary meanings to everything.

I remember wearing the moonstone bracelet I received as a birthday gift around my ankle because it fitted better there, and I’ve continued wearing it that way till date.

There’s nothing hideous or questionable about it. Sometimes, an accessory is simply an accessory. Let people enjoy what they love without making it mean more than it does. ❤️

My cousin and I once jokingly agreed that when our time on earth is over, we would love to be buried beneath the roots of our favourite foods. 😂

We both love yam, but because I love plantain so much, I let her have yam while I claimed plantain.

So, someday, our younger ones might point at a beautiful plantain sucker with flourishing leaves and say, “That’s my this and that!” 👇🏼🤭🤭

Pressure does more harm than good, especially when it comes to finances.

I’ve learned to say no to things I cannot afford at a particular moment. I would rather admit that something is above my budget than spend money I don’t have just to impress someone or avoid embarrassment.

I’m never ashamed to say, “Let me check and get back to you. This is a little above my budget at the moment.”

That way, I save myself unnecessary pressure and financial stress.

I don’t care who laughs at me for saying I can’t afford something right now. That level of discipline is far better than borrowing money to meet up with expectations I cannot afford.

Learn to live within your means. There is absolutely no shame in that.

47 WEEKS AND 4DAYS LOC’D.🤭🤭.

Anyone on any kind of loc journey understands consistency and perseverance.

You start this journey not knowing exactly what your locs will look like or how they will turn out. Yet, you keep trusting the process, embracing each stage, and patiently waiting for your locs to unravel into what they are meant to be.

From regular loctician appointments to finding the right products that work for your hair, the journey requires commitment. When you think about all of this, you might be tempted to give up within the first few months.

But kudos to all of us who wake up every day, show up for our locs, and keep falling in love with them at every stage. 🥹❤️🔒

Just like yesterday, we are almost one year loc’d.
