A women like Dolly? They don’t just make an impression. They leave a signature…

If you don’t know Dolly Parton, let me introduce you.

She’s been an icon to me since I was a little girl—not only for her music, but for the woman she is: brilliant, entrepreneurial, feminine, and completely herself.

But what first drew me to her?

Her style.

The color. The rhinestones. The big hair. The tiny skirts. The heels. And the fact that she never seemed interested in dressing like anyone else.

That’s also what I love about Iris Apfel.

Different styles. Same spirit.

Women who aren’t afraid to be colorful, different, playful, and completely themselves.

So yes, I’m posting Dolly on my fashion page because I admire her style—and I think there’s something we can all learn from it.

Style doesn’t have to be noticed.
It has to be recognizable.

Would you have given up on the white shirt? 🤍

I almost did.

I thought white just wasn’t my color because it made me look tired. But instead of giving up on it, I started playing around with how I wore it.

Sometimes I layer it, add contrast, or simply move the white away from my face. I’ll even wear white on the bottom—a skirt, pants, whatever works.

Sometimes it’s not the piece. It’s how you style it.

Have you ever had a piece you thought just didn’t work for you?
Yo casi lo hice.

Sentía que el blanco me hacía ver cansada y pensé que simplemente no era mi color. Pero en vez de dejarla de usar, empecé a jugar con diferentes formas de llevarla.

A veces la uso con capas, agrego contraste o simplemente alejo el blanco de mi rostro. Incluso puedo llevarlo abajo: una falda, un pantalón… lo que funcione.

A veces no es la pieza. Es cómo la llevas.

We talked about adding a pop of color to black. But what if color just isn’t your thing?

Then change the texture.

Lace. Fringe. Leather. Denim. Different textures can completely change the feel of an all-black look without adding a single color.

So the next time your black outfit feels a little flat, don’t reach for color. Reach for texture.

If patterns make you hesitate, girl, I get it.

Sometimes you see a piece you LOVE, but then you think, “Okay… but what am I supposed to wear with this?”

That’s exactly why I put these looks together.

I’m so glad some of this week’s looks helped you see a piece differently, and helped some of you finally say, “Okay, I can wear that.”

Because I’m not just here to show you pretty pieces. I want to show you why they work and help you look at the patterns in your own closet a little differently.

You don’t always need more clothes.

Sometimes you just need a different way to put them together.

Patterns intimidate you? I got you.

You don’t have to avoid patterns or make everything neutral. The trick is finding the balance.

Keep some connection between your colors, use a solid piece to anchor the look, and don’t be afraid to play with another pattern when the colors work together.

That’s how I paired these polka-dot pants with completely different pieces, and made each look feel intentional.
