The home owner had a leak inside their sunroom and a storm had taken off a long section of metal on the fascia at the top of the roof line. They also wanted their house washed and cleaned. Thanks to the Devine family for the work.

A couple houses in Historic downtown Frankfort this week.

Front porch repair. The porch column was shot and the scroll-sawn porch bracket was dry-rotted, the fascia and wood above the column was rotted. Needless to say it had seen better days.

The other home got a new Larson storm door, dry-rotted trim on the house replaced, hand rail and gutter downspout repair, and their mailbox put back up.

Door replacement yesterday. From a hinged patio door to a sliding glass door. The previous installer realized they had ordered the wrong patio door. It was too big for the opening. But decided to install it anyways… 😳

The homeowners called me to come look at it for the original issue was that you could see daylight between the door and frame when shut. She complained to the Frankfort company who installed it but offered no resolution. So until she figured it out she had put foam strips to fill the gap between the frame and the door.

After looking at the door I noticed it didn’t look right. The amount of door trim used on the inside was a giveaway of what was to come.

I told her I would gladly do the job but wanted to give the frankfort business an opportunity to fix it before she spent more money when she shouldn’t have to. Frustrated enough she decided to just start over with a new door instead of waiting on them to make it right.

I had never run into this before and was puzzled. I went to take the door trim off inside so that I could get a correct measurement needed to order the new door. When the trim was removed I realized that the door and door frame continued past the drywall. Do what? 🤔 but how far? 3.5 inches. Let’s just say that was a lot of cover up trim caulk and silicone.

Now that the job is over and the homeowner was happy it’s safe to say that sometimes you just need a good laugh.

So proud to be an American. We often get caught up in the daily hustle, but seeing that flag whipping in the wind is a beautiful reminder to be grateful. Freedom isn't free.
