I’m a little embarrassed that I started to post two new patterns and then got distracted 🤦🏻‍♀️ So here they are! These are the first two patterns of my 2026 Lace Knitters Society club. The larger lace weight one is To Plant A Garden, and the smaller fi*****ng weight one is Bosquette. The idea behind this year’s club is that everyone is welcome! There’s the larger more complicated option, and the smaller simpler option based on the same motif. The yarn is by who does fabulous greens! Although the shipment options are sold out, the pattern only option is still available on Ravelry and designsbyromi.com 🧶

So many people have been buying my Sea Stars pattern today! I don’t know why, but thank you 💙 Psst: they’re shaped with short rows and super fun to knit. A perfect small project that turns out a great little washcloth! The samples are knit in clean cotton and each one takes less than one skein. Find the pattern on Ravelry or designsbyromi.com 🌊

I’ve got something new for you today! This is Frizzle, a simple and beautiful study in texture (knit on US 8 needles!), and the bonus pattern in my Mystery Path 2025 ebook, breaking apart all the techniques from my 2025 mystery shawl, Funston, into smaller bite-sized shawls (and a scarf!) that you can knit up quickly. This one joins A Splash of Sunlight, I Left My Heart, and The Avenues in a mini capsule collection inspired by San Francisco. Some of you said you felt a little unsure about whether you could tackle the full mystery shawl, so I’m hoping this is a fun little pathway to show how much you really CAN do. 💙 The ebook is called The Mystery Path and you can get it on my site or Ravelry for 25% off with code Pathway25 through 27 March 2026 Pacific time - I hope you’ll give it a try! (And don’t forget it’s almost the mystery time of year again) 🧶

When I was teaching in New York, I got a lot of questions about picking up around gussets (and I decided to develop a class on it too, so stand by!) in the interim, I thought I’d pop this up here again, where I show picking up extra stitches. In this reel, I have stitches held on my spare needle and then I’ve used the backwards loop method to cast on the same number of stitches. This is similar to what you’d see for an underarm. When I go back to pick up from that cast-on, I’ll lose a stitch because I’m going to be knitting in the opposite direction. So I am picking up and knitting an extra stitch at either end of the cast-on to help close the gaps and bring my stitch count back up. Later I can always decrease that extra stitch out if I want. To pick up and knit that extra stitch on either end, I’ve used the purl bump of the stitch right next to the cast-on. If I were to use a leg of the stitch, it would tend to stretch out and leave a hole, but a lifted increase is much lower profile and works well as a transition here. Then I’m picking up one stitch at the top of each column of Vs in the cast-on. To completely hide that cast-on, I’m going through the exact center of the stitch which means I’m basically creating a two strand purl bump from the cast-on row. Finally I work the stitches off the spare needle, and I’m ready to knit in the round! Was this helpful? Let me know in the comments - I love to hear from you 🧡🧶

Hi! 👋🏼 I just got back from teaching at in NYC and I had such a wonderful group of students! Thank you so much to everyone who took a class from me and made me feel so welcome 💙 I actually took some pictures this time instead of just my teaching outfits (which I included so you can see evidence that I do exist). It was a quick trip, and then I sat behind on the plane back, admiring her sweater all the way, and didn’t realize it was her until we all stood up in Denver to deplane 🧶 The evil eye charm was a sweet gift to me from and the alpacas are my illustration for and how cool is it that they have alpaca swag?! Sally calls them a Cozy of Alpacas and I think that’s adorable ☺️
Take good care everyone! Hug your loved ones 🕊️🌈🐈

This is the project that’s brought back my knitting mojo and that I can’t wait to pick up. It’s so soft, and simple, and cloud-grey with little flecks of neon. I picked up the Lavender Lune yarn at SSK over the summer in Nashville and it begged to come home with me. And I’ve also put up a limited edition Galentine’s Day shawl and sweater pin in my shop! I hand make these, and they’re available in nickel, sterling, copper, and red brass 💕 https://designsbyromi.com/product-category/gift-shop/pins/
Sending out calm, peace, and kindness to you all. Hug your loves 💙🌈🕊️🐈
