Rock Island, you were magical today! Join me for the behind the scenes of a pop up day in Arts Alley during Second Saturday, & thank you so much to Downtown Rock Island, especially Jack and Allison, for hosting us and helping make it a great day 💜 Hannah saw so many of our familiar faces, and had a great time meeting new ones as well who wanted a peek into Candle Witch Company before we reopen the shop in Moline.

We are excited to have a weekend of pouring more of your favorite soy candles after running out of a few scents, with today’s favorites being Cleansing Flame and Honeydew 🕯️

Tomorrow’s finally the day of Second Saturday in downtown Rock Island, and you’ll be able to find your favorite Candle Witch Company scents and magical gifts here in Arts Alley, next to the Quad Cities Arts building! It’s sure to be a beautiful morning with the farmers market, artisan pop ups throughout the downtown (like us at 1719 2nd Avenue!), yoga right in the alley with us, lawn games, and more fun. Come enjoy a micro Candle Witch Company experience in our pod, with big thanks to Downtown Rock Island for having us!

Many of you have asked us if we sell reused teacup candles or candles made using other up-cycled vessels, and we wanted to let you know that we don’t for safety concerns and why!

Reusing a vessel can cause safety issues- when making candles, it’s important to test how much heat your jar can handle, if your candle burns evenly, and other factors rigorously to ensure a candle is safe. When vessels like old jars or cups are used, each vessel should be tested for toxic substances like lead, as well as some vessels are just not meant to withstand heat from a flame or previously used candle jars can be compromised from being burned already, increasing the chances of glass shattering or cracking during any future uses, posing a safety concern. This unfortunately is such a relevant issue that most candle makers insurance will not cover any candles made with reused candle vessels including ours, so we do not feel comfortable selling a product we can’t insure the safety of first. The magic is in the flame, but we are committed to hours of testing every scent and product we create to ensure the safety and quality of our products for our community, including using heat safe mason jars that are designed for withstanding heat.

We strongly encourage our customers to reuse our vessels and give ideas in our shop zines on ways to repurpose our jars for future use in your home and hearth to reduce your environmental impact, such as for storing Q-tips, making a mini bouquet with your empty jars, and more. We are and have been committed to making the best soy candles we can the safest way we can since 2011, and hope you know more about why we stick with the jars we love!

Stop in for a smell and grab your favorite handcrafted Candle Witch soy candles and soy-coconut wax melts this month as we pop up in Rock Island and Davenport this month! While the new shop in Moline is being worked on you can still get the scents you know and love from us, like our classic Banana Nut Bread or Witches Apothecary to enchant your home and hearth.

Find us this Saturday in Downtown Rock Island for Second Saturday, where we will be one of the featured businesses in Artists Alley with a mini shop experience in one of the pods for our candles, which if you haven’t checked out you need to! Second Saturday brings lawn games, the farmers market, food, fitness classes, artisans, and more weekend fun for the whole family to Rock Island, find us in the alley next to QC Arts at 1719 2nd Avenue from 8am-12pm 💜

You also won’t want to miss the magic at the Motor Row Victory Lane Market during the Bix weekend on July 25th from 9am-4pm on East 2nd Street, featuring some of your favorite artisans and of course the hostess with the mostess of Eclectic Market, Suzon! Come out to support local businesses, have some fun here in the Quad Cities, find art, new to you vintage finds, live music, games, and more while you enjoy your Bix weekend!

Today we started laying our new flooring in the shop here in downtown Moline 💜 We’ve been making great progress on fixing up the new space, with Hannah and Dani putting our best intentions and hardest work into getting things ready for August. Thank you to everyone who has cheered us on through the long days of painting, caulking, fixing, and adding our glamour to the space as we turn our new shop into a place that everyone will love.

We can’t wait for you to see our new shop at 1421 5th Avenue in Moline Centre this August for our handcrafted soy candles, soy-coconut wax melts, specialty candles, and unique and magical gifts for your home and hearth. We look forward to you joining us again at the new Candle Witch Company shop, where everyone is welcome to live your best light 🫶✨

Here’s a clip of a little candle magic this morning. I (Dani) found this vintage angel candle holder from Isabel Bloom (circa 2002) at a thrift store a couple of years ago and it has become my absolute favorite 💜 I love her sweet face and it’s perfect for burning chime candles.
