There was a time in my life when I had no idea what God had ahead of me. I was heartbroken and defeated.

I didn’t know that one day I’d be standing in church beside a man who would love me, love my kids, pray with me, worship beside me, and become such a steady part of our family. And now there are Sundays when I look over at him, or feel him reach for my hand during worship, and it still hits me.
God knew what I needed long before I could see it.

If you’re in a chapter that doesn’t look anything like the one you prayed for, don’t assume God is finished writing your story.

I think we should just stop saying this one.

“God won’t give you more than you can handle” sounds comforting, but it’s not actually what the Bible says.

Sometimes life IS more than we can handle. And sometimes motherhood IS more than we can handle.
Sometimes grief is more than we can handle.
Sometimes marriage, anxiety, disappointment, uncertainty, teenagers, work, family IS is more than we can carry on our own.

BUT maybe that’s the point.

We were never promised a life that wouldn’t overwhelm us. We were promised a God who would meet us there.

Paul even wrote about being “burdened beyond our strength” so that he would learn to rely not on himself, but on God. (2 Corinthians 1:8–9)

So, when you feel like you CAN’T handle everything in front of you, that doesn’t mean your faith is failing.

Maybe what we SHOULD be saying is:
“This may be more than I can handle. But it’s not more than God can handle.”

Save this for when you need that reminder.
