πΊπΈ Today we are closed in remembrance and reflection of the brave men and women who gave their lives so that we may live ours freely. We do not take that for granted for a single moment.
This morning we had the absolute joy of seeing so many of our wonderful, beloved customers at the Gobles Memorial Day Parade driving our 1968 C10, and our hearts are so full. π We want to share the story of the big, beautiful flag you may have seen hanging proudly today at the 1951 Standard Station.
πΊπΈ THE FLAG
This is no ordinary flag. This is the Kalamazoo 9/11 Flag, a flag that hung from an overpass in Kalamazoo in the days and weeks following the September 11th, 2001 attacks on our nation. At a time when our country was brought to its knees, flags like this one became symbols of something unbreakable; our unity, our grief, our resolve, and our love for this country and one another.
For over two decades this flag has carried that weight and that honor. And today, it came to Gobles.
We are deeply and sincerely grateful to the family who so graciously allowed this extraordinary piece of living history to be with us today and always, draped over our 1951 Standard Station for all of Gobles to see. It was an honor we will never forget and a moment this community deserved.
May it serve as a reminder of what we lost, what we fought for, and what we must never stop protecting. ποΈ
