How fun is this prom dress?!?
My client ordered this dress to fit their exact measurements, but it still arrived a bit too loose. I was able to alter it to fit her JUST RIGHT and eliminate the gaping between the lower skirt and the cross-cross bodice.
This sweet senior was an absolute STUNNER on prom night!
Another successful Guided Thrift Experience with a client in the books today!
"Best thrifting trip of my life," the client said.
All in a day's work!

Just a little sneak peek of an AMBITIOUS cloning project I just finished up. More pics to follow. 😉
I just sayin’. 😂😂😂
Patched up a hole where Velcro got attached and tore the lining fabric! This jacket is ready for LOT more wear!
As part of my collaboration with , I’ve had the opportunity to do more custom garment sewing than I usually do. AND I LOVE IT!!!!
Today in the studio I’ve been working on a custom track suit as part of what will become an athleisure capsule wardrobe! Our client LOVES the little details in clothing and asked for a pop of color in the form of some red trim, and it’s looking SUPER fantastic! I can’t wait to see it on our client!
What are YOU doing for Saint Patrick’s Day? 😃
Check out my guest blog!!!!!!! Thanks Maggie Greene Style!
Here's a : take good care of your clothes, to help them last longer!
The fashion industry, particularly fast fashion, wants us as consumers to believe that clothing is disposable, worthless.
Worse, they treat garment workers the same way - it's abhorrent to say the least.
So how can we honor not only the work that went into producing our beloved garments, but also the garments themselves?
As part of our ongoing creative collaboration AKA , I asked Traci (she, her) of Pryde Hantverk AKA to share some of her best tips and insights for garment care and repair.
And she delivered big time!
BTW, this is the perfect follow-on to the recent two-part episode of the in which we dive deep on Laundry Quandaries.
If you are subscribed to our collab mailing list (link in bio) you'll hear more about this post later today. In the meantime, you can check it out at the link in my stories!
Thank you to Traci for sharing her experience and helping to educate folks on the importance of caring for our clothes.
We make a great team! 💚💀

My helper for today!!!
Spoiler alert: Swipe to see what she REALLY wanted!!!
I love me some gorgeous RAINBOW topstitching!!!!!
I altered this top!!!!! 💗
My favorite outfit from this week! Details:
- top: Tacoma Rescue Mission thrift store
- pants: Curvy Chic Closet - North America's Consignment Retail Popup
- boots: Poshmark
Everything you see here is secondhand including this amazing oh-so-me top!
Fun fact: the brand is Anxiety. Can you imagine a more serendipitous find?
It was originally a hip-length tunic and I don't really care for that on me.
So, I reached out to Traci Pryde (she, her) of Pryde Hantverk aka , and asked her to work her magic on the hem.
She shortened it then reattached the shirttails and now it's freaking perfect!
This piece will definitely get a LOT of mileage in my wardrobe, all year round.
Also, in case you missed it...
Traci and I have launched a creative collaboration! Yes, you read that right:
We've brought together my expertise in thrifting and personal style support and her expert skills in mending/repair, tailoring/alterations, and embellishment into a unique mix of packages designed to help solve all your wardrobe challenges.

I cannot describe the joy it gives me to bring new life to old, sentimental things!!!
My client tasked me with restoring THREE very special, aged family quilts and this is the first one I completed!
This quilt was a BLAST to mend!! Due to numerous holes in the fabric I suggested some cascading hearts, placed to hide every last hole. I cut out multiple sized hearts, laid out the quilt, and went to work placing them and hand-sewing them on the quilt.
The binding was SHOT, so I removed what was shredded, squared everything up and replaced the binding. Peep the chainstitch detail I added at the top of the quilt!!
So grateful to be trusted with such special quilts loaded with sentimental value!!!!
A little holiday reminder to
STOP COMMENTING ON PEOPLE’S BODIES WHETHER THEY ARE PRESENT OR NOT!!!!!!!
CW/TW: abuse, body image, fatphobia
Here is some wisdom for your Winter Solstice Wednesday:
The other day I woke up fired up about the fatphobic comments I heard so often growing up, around this time of year.
Little digs about what I put on my plate, how much I ate or didn't eat, and all the internalized shame for the people around me who hated their own bodies and chose to take it out on me. I began to associate hunger with weakness, as if meeting my biological needs was an inconvenience.
So many shared holiday meals were sideshows, and picking apart my body and my plate was the main event. I longed to be dainty, smaller, to take up less space.
The food could barely do its job, working around the perpetual lump in my throat.
The moral of this story is, in the words of (she, her), "you are not worth more if there is less of you."
👉 If you care about people, please don't make comments about their bodies!
ALSO:
Unless you're a licensed medical professional or clinical nutritionist *specifically enlisted* to offer expertise, it's best not to comment on people's food choices or eating habits either.
Food has no moral value!
Thank you for coming to my TED talk.

The lining of this faux fur jacket was pretty thrashed, as evidenced by the before pics. Keep swiping to see the repaired lining that helped this jacket live to be worn again!!!!
Truth. 💗

I have the honor and privilege of restoring this quilt (and two others). I sooooo enjoy getting cozy on my couch at the end of the day with the fireplace going while I work on a whole lot of hand embroidery!
Today has been… A Day. 😑
So here’s a photo of my legs, adorned in my new hand-dyed (by me), hand-made (also by me) SUPER cozy new French terry lounge pants!!!!
Well. Hello, December.
My studio has a two-story wall that is as much WINDOW as it is wall - talk about a fantastic view from the office!!!!
Spending today saving jeans from the landfill!
This pair was PRACTICALLY NEW when the wearer accidentally put this hole in them. And now they’re PRACTICALLY NEW AGAIN!
Just over here, LEVELING UP my button placket game. 😎😎😎
Choose Small Biz Saturday over Black Friday!!!!!
F*ck Black Friday (read the caption)
Here's why I don't participate:
- It's all about STUFF.
- It creates a false sense of urgency.
- It perpetuates the narrative that cheaper is better, even at the expense of people.
- It feeds and lines the pockets of giant corporations that only care about profit.
- It's a fallacy: reduced pricing for "sales" and "deals" is baked in to most retail business models, because companies know people will buy into it and buy more.
I have so many thoughts and feelings and insights on this, but I'll keep it brief for now. After all, I am still (slowly but surely) recovering from Covid and there are countless resources available to help you make more informed buying choices.
👉If you're looking for more information on Black Friday and sustainable, alternative ways to engage in gift-giving, check out the . Specifically, I recommend their most recent 2-part episode on the concept of .
No shade or judgment to those who shop this day. It's just not my thing. 💚

Aaaaaaand here are the pants I sewed up for myself on my birthday!! They’re “cigarette” style pants based on those made so iconic in the 50s. Do I want to be a pinup girl when I grow up WHY YES, YES I DO!!!

Will I EVER stop obsessing about matching up seams?
Drop a comment with NO or HELL NO!
OPP ALERT!!!!!! If you don’t know, another service I offer is finishing Other People’s Projects!!!!!!
Ok to be fair, my client collected these t-shirts for years from the many races she’s run and really wanted to turn them into a quilt, but didn’t have the sewing experience to make it a reality. She reached out to me and I immediately aid HELL YES I’ll finish a t-shirt quilt project for you!!
Stay tuned, not only for the finished quilt, but for more OPPs on my agenda!!!
Hello everyone!!!! I have a big OOPS to share!!
Back when I first created my Google Form application for services, I intentionally set it so that I’d receive an email when a new form is submitted.
IT DID NOT EMAIL ME AND THEREFORE I HAVE MISSED REQUESTS!!!!!
Please accept my sincerest apology for this oversight, and know that I will be reaching out to everyone TODAY to see if you still need my services!!!
Thank you for your understanding!
My assistant in the studio this morning!
Maggie came to me with this polka-dotted navy blue pinafore-style jumper and asked about cloning it - and adding some ESSENTIAL POCKETS!!!!
Cloning a garment is exactly what it sounds like - I drafted a pattern off of the original and then created another jumper!! WITH POCKETS!!!
Here’s another cool thing. During the fitting process I was able to tweak an already decently-fit garment into a CUSTOM FIT GARMENT! I made some bodice adjustments in addition to drafting pockets, and now we’ve got a personalized pattern to use in the future!
Hey everyone!!!! October is a really important month!! Not only is it my birthday month, it’s BREAST CANCER AWARENESS MONTH!!!!
I was diagnosed with breast cancer February 3rd, 2016. I was 41. That’s when my journey with cancer began
• 3/2/16 lumpectomy
• 4/6/16 port placement
• 5/3 - 8/9/16 chemotherapy
• 12/8/2016 bilateral mastectomies with immediate DIEP Flap reconstruction
Since the “major” stuff in 2016, my journey has continued. I’ve had two revision surgeries on my reconstruction, a complete hysterectomy, and I am on medication indefinitely that, along with every other procedure I’ve undergone, helps to prevent this cancer from recurring. I’m happy to say that this past August 11th was my 6-year Cancer Free Anniversary!
Please, PLEASE don’t ignore your routine health appointments and screenings!!! It could be the difference between life and death!!
I was SO thrilled when Maggie Greene of Maggie Greene Style asked me to write a guest blog post!
You might think the actions of one person are meaningless, but that’s a LIE the fast fashion industry wants us to believe!!!
The actions of many individuals don’t just make a difference - when we add all those individuals up, it evolves from “doing my part” to a WHOLE ASS MOVEMENT!!!!!
In this guest post, Traci Pryde (she, her) shares her experience with retail shopping addiction, how she's working to overcome it, and what she's learned through the process.
I recently had the opportunity to repair this vest. The lining was too shredded, so we opted to replace the lining altogether. As soon as I picked out the first seams I realized this was a hand-tailored garment of wonderful quality! I am so pleased I was chosen to mend this precious garment!
Also sometimes (more than sometimes?) I forget to take a BEFORE shot, and this was one of those times!! 😭😭😭 But keep swiping to see the shredded original lining!!
